"IÂ’m not really sure what injuries youÂ’re talking about, but he hasnÂ’t been listed on the injury report all year. ... I donÂ’t think heÂ’s injured. He hasnÂ’t been on the injury report, so I am assuming heÂ’s not hurt," Belichick said.Funny how Belichick would reference the injury report, since he is thought to have manipulated that very report for years. We're sure Polian and the rest of the Colts' brass is relieved to have Belichick's diagnosis.

GM Bill Polian has shot down rumors that Peyton Manning might be dealing with an injury, according to the Tribune Star. "... I can assure that Peyton is not hurt," he said. "He has no injuries to speak of. There's nothing wrong with his arm. There's nothing wrong with his knee. So to put those kinds of conjecture to rest, he has not appeared on the injury list and won't because he doesn't have an injury. We made some throws [Monday] night that we'd rather have back, I'm sure. It had nothing to do with injury."This is obviously comforting to Manning owners. The quarterback hasn't been himself statistically this season, but as long as he's healthy, as it appears he is, he should be fine.

ESPN's Trent Dilfer has suggested that Peyton Manning might be dealing with a hand or arm injury because the ball is not coming out the way it normally does, according to NFL.com. Replays of Monday's game seemed to back up what Dilfer was saying.Manning is averaging over 250 yards per game, but his 10/9 touchdown to interception ratio isn't very Peyton-like, so perhaps Dilfer is on to something here. It's at least worth monitoring.

It should be noted that infection developed prior to any surgery. Upon manifestation of the signs of infection, he immediately had surgery to remove the bursa sac. Concurrently, he was treated aggressively with antibiotics, and the infection was eliminated. The second procedure (tacking of the skin to eliminate the bursal space) was designed to ensure the complete and swift resolution of the bursal problem. Â… The second procedure was in no way, shape or form, related to the infection. Â… It also should be noted emphatically that, at no time, did he have MRSA. It is clear from consultation with our physicians, including infectious disease specialists, that staph is a societal medical problem. A staph infection in a bursa sac in Peyton Manning's left knee led to the surgery that kept him out of much of the Indianapolis Colts' preseason training camp, the team confirmed Friday. But team officials denied reports Manning had a highly virulent form of staph infection that is difficult to treat called methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
Impacts: The team, responding to reports that the staph infection prompted both of Manning's preseason left knee surgeries, said that was the case only with the first procedure, which removed the bursa sac. The second operation was to tack skin together to eliminate the space left by the removal, the team said. Signs of infection appeared while Manning was in New Orleans in July, prompting surgery to remove the bursa sac and treatment with antibiotics to eliminate the infection.
