Bell willing to wait his turn
The New Orleans Times-Picayune is reporting that Saints running back Mike Bell is willing to be patient and wait for his turn to carry the ball. Bell didn't get his first action last week until near the end of the third quarter, but he finished with 12 carries for 80 yards.
Our View: Bell has been excellent when healthy for the Saints this season, but he will continue to split carries with Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush. He is worth owning, but the timeshare hurts his value as a starting fantasy back. He is best served as a backup for your team, but is serviceable during bye weeks.

Mike Bell played 19 snaps against the Dolphins Sunday, with 18 coming in the second half. Coach Sean Payton continues to use Bell as a "closer." Pierre Thomas was the main back in the first half, but it's clear Payton wants to use Bell as defenses get worn down. [...]
Bell rushed for 80 yards on 12 carries in the Saints' 46-34
Bell rushed for 80 yards on 12 carries in the Saints' 46-34 comeback victory in Miami on Sunday.
Impacts: Bell has 80 yards or more in three of his four games this season and failed to score a touchdown for the first time in three games Sunday.
Bell leads Saints in rushing Week 7
News: Saints RB Mike Bell was the team's leading rusher on Sunday in a Week 7 win over the Dolphins. He carried the ball 12 times for a total of 35 yards. His longest run of the game went for 35 yards. Bell failed to catch a pass in the contest. [...]
Bush finds the end zone
Reggie Bush gained just 26 yards off three carries and receptions a piece, though he did find paydirt on a 10-yard reverse play.
Our View: Bush had one of his signature sideline dives on the touchdown. Bush remains one of the speedier and most agile backs in the league, and while he'll continue to be outcarried by Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell, Bush will remain a factor in the air and on gadget plays.
Bell tops Thomas in carries and yards
Mike Bell ran well against the Dolphins on Sunday, gaining 80 yards off 12 carries.
Our View: Meanwhile, Pierre Thomas gained just 30 yards on eight carries. Bell also received the Saints' goal-line carries, although he failed to convert. At this point, it looks like Bell and Thomas are in a near-even timeshare, with Reggie Bush remaining in the mix as well. All three have value, though they may not be the most consistent fantasy options as they continue to split the halfback workload.
Thomas gets little going against Miami
Pierre Thomas gained just 30 yards off eight carries on Sunday, compared to Mike Bell's 80 off of 12.
Our View: Bell has been the bane of Thomas' fantasy owners' existence, and it doesn't look like he'll be fazed out anytime soon. Bell also received New Orleans' goal-line carries, and Thomas owners had to be happy that Bell didn't convert. Still, this situation looks to be in full-blown platoon mode, with Reggie Bush remaining in the mix as well, so temper your expectations for Thomas going forward.

Bell to ring true vs. Miami?
News: Saints RB Mike Bell, who split carries 50/50 with Pierre Thomas and scored in Week 6, will try to produce again in Week 7 at Miami. The Dolphins rank third against the run (76.4 yards) and fourth in yards per carry given up (3.4). [...]

Bell finds end zone in Week 6
News: Saints RB Pierre Thomas rushed for a team-high 72 yards in Week 6 against the Giants. He split carries with Mike Bell evenly, with both running backs getting 15 carries. Bell finished with 34 yards and a touchdown. [...]

Pierre Thomas looks good for Saints
Pierre Thomas looked good in Sunday's 48-27 win over the Giants at the Superdome, as he racked up 72 rushing yards on 15 carries, with a long of 25. Mike Bell also had 15 carries for 34 yards and a touchdown.
Our View: Thomas proved he is capable of being a solid fantasy running back, if the Saints will just feature him and give him a larger workload. Bell's two-yard touchdown had to be frustrating for fantasy owners of Thomas.

Bell a full participant on Thursday
Mike Bell (hamstring) again fully participated in practice on Thursday.
Our View: He will play against the Giants this weekend. However, with Pierre Thomas again firmly entrenched as the Saints' starting running back, don't expect him to get many carries. With Thomas being injury prone, however, Bell could again come into some value down the line in 2009.

Thomas limited with hammy injury
According to Jeff Duncan on Twitter, Saints running back Pierre Thomas was limited in practice on Thursday.
Our View: Thomas is dealing with a hamstring injury, but is still expected to play on Sunday. He has yet to practice in full this week, but Friday could be the day. If it isn't his workload would likely be limited and he'd cede carries to Mike Bell.
NFL: Thomas’ Ankle Acts Up Again
The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Pierre Thomas was limited in Saints practice Wednesday with an ankle injury.Mancini’s Take: Thomas is a wonderful back, but his durability issues are what’s keeping him from becoming a top-10 star player at his position. In the Saint backfield, Reggie Bush is the h’orderve, while Thomas is the 24-ounce Texas rib-eye that gains the tough yards. This week, however, Mike Bell returns from his most recent ailment. It would be foolish...

Bell set to return
Mike Bell (hamstring) says he is "good to go" against the Giants this weekend after missing New Orleans' previous two games, according to Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
Our View: Bell electrified the fantasy football playing world when he rushed for 229 yards out of nowhere in the season's first two weeks, but Pierre Thomas has reasserted himself as New Orleans' number one back in his absence, and until Thomas gets hurt again, Bell probably won't have much value.

Bell to be "full go" next Monday
Mike Bell (knee) will be "full go" when the Saints return to practice next Monday following their bye week, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. He is expected to play in Week 6 against the Giants.
Our View: Bell has missed the team's past two games, two games in which Pierre Thomas re-established himself as the team's feature runner. He should still see some carries once he is able to get back on the field, though.

Mike Bell Expects To Be Ready Week 6
Returns To Undefined Role In Saints' Backfield
Tailback Mike Bell (RB, DL) said he'll be "full go" before the New Orleans Saints returned to practice Monday. He missed the past two weeks with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee."I've got a lot of built-up tension from sitting these past two weeks, so I'll be running with even more aggression," said Bell, who said he plans to spend the rest of this week in New Orleans to get himself into "game shape". I've got to do some more running to get my wind back, and I want to do more cutting and things like that."The Saints will have to figure out how to split carries between Bell, Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush - but clearly that's a good problem to have. Thomas, who came back from his own MCL sprain two weeks ago, said he has continued to feel better and plans to dump his knee brace next week. (New Orleans Times-Picayune)
FF Today's Take: While the paper states the workload split is a good problem to have for the Saints, it's a potential headache once again for fantasy owners. A likely scenario could involve cutting Bush's nine rushing attempts/game average down to about five or six and splitting the remaining 20 or so carries fairly evenly between Thomas and Bell. There was some talk earlier in the season about Bell taking over goal-line carries, but both players have proven to be adept in short yardage. Expect Thomas and Bell to alternate good games with Thomas being the slightly more valuable player of the two.
