Thomas remains questionable for Sunday's season opener against the Detroit Lions, not because of his lacerated right knee but because of a sprained medial collateral ligament in the same knee.Thomas was held out of practice again Wednesday but he did jog on the side and rode a stationary bike. He said he will attempt to practice Thursday with the aid of a new, fitted knee brace."I don't know why it's taking this long,'' Thomas said. "That's why I'm hoping I can go tomorrow. Our View: The source states that his chances of being ready for Week 1 against Detroit are looking slim. Reggie Bush and Mike Bell would handle the workload at running back if he is forced to miss the season opener.

According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Saints' running back Pierre Thomas is questionable for the season opener due to his sprained MCL. Thomas is going to split carries this season with Reggie Bush and Mike Bell.
Our View: Thomas really needs to get on the field, because too much missed time will give Bush and Bell a chance to shine. Thomas still figures to be the team's goal-line threat when he returns, but he is hurting his chances of being an every down back while he is out.
