According to Newsday Jets coach Rex Ryan has been surprised
News: According to Newsday Jets coach Rex Ryan has been surprised at how well the QB competition between Kellen Clemens and rookie Mark Sanchez has been going. "Clemens and Sanchez are really battling," Ryan said Thursday. "I knew it was going to be a dogfight and right now, you can tell it really is. We probably won't know until whenever it becomes obvious, that's when we'll make the decision. Obviously you'd prefer to have it sooner than later, but I don't think that's going to happen. Both have been really good and they challenge each other, but they're very supportive." Ryan said the money won't be a factor in his decision. Sanchez just signed a five-year deal that could be worth as much as $60 million. "I understand that with him getting the money, but the job as a coach is you've got to play the best guys and what gives you the chance to win," Ryan said. [...]
