Sprained MCL

METAIRIE, La. -- New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton says starting cornerback Tracy Porter has sprained his left knee and could return this season. Porter injured his left knee in a collision with Saints safety Usama Young during New Orleans' victory in St. Louis on Sunday. Payton says tests Monday revealed a medial collateral ligament injury, which will not require reconstructive surgery. (CBSsports.com)

FF Today's Take: Porter should return before the end of the season. Malcolm Jenkins and Randall Gay should see their roles in the defense expand.

Tracy Porter will miss 4-to-6 weeks of action after spraining his MCL against the Rams on Sunday, according to Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View: That would have him returning at the tail end of the season. There's a chance he could end up on injured reserve. Malcolm Jenkins will likely get the first shot at replacing him in the lineup.
