Jets | T. Jones, Washington splitting time
Rich Cimini, of the New York Daily News, reports New York Jets RBs Thomas Jones and Leon Washington have been seeing nearly equal playing time this season. Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said the team will use whichever runner is producing at the time and will not give them a defined role. The Jets are hoping to make the offense more unpredictable. Washington said both running backs are fine with the situation. Schottenheimer said he believes Jones and Washington are interchangeable in all situations.

Status: I.R.. Out for season
Leon Washington said Thursday that he's ahead of schedule in his return from a broken leg and hopes to rejoin the team in March for the off-season conditioning program. Washington's injury was a double open fracture in his right leg, where the broken tibia and fibular bones came through the skin. A steel rod was placed in his leg, and Washington is beyond the point where infection is a concern. "They expect me to have a full recovery and they're real surprised at my mobility right now," said Washington.
