Impacts: McKelvin was considered expendable because there was no clear timetable on when he could return after breaking his leg in the first half of a 27-7 loss to New Orleans on Sunday. The 2008 first-round draft pick becomes the seventh Bills player to be placed on injured reserve this season, and joins starting right tackle Brad Butler and starting tight end Derek Schouman, who were placed on the list last week after both sustained knee injuries.

The Buffalo Bills have officially placed cornerback Leodis McKelvin on the IR, ending his 2009 season, according to the Twitter page of NFL reporter Adam Caplan. McKelvin broke his leg in last week's loss to the Saints.
Our View: McKelvin had a very eventful season considering he only played three games, but this is surely not the ending he was hoping for. The Bills will suffer this loss on both defense and special teams, and they will need to find help to replace him.

While his brief 2009 season will remembered for a Week 1 fumble against the Pats, last year's first-rounder has a bright future as both a corner and a returner.
