L.J.'s agent meeting with Chiefs
News: Larry Johnson remained a member of the Chiefs late Friday afternoon, but no one could say how much longer that might be the case. Johnson's agent, Peter Schaffer, said there had been no progress in discussions with the team over the future of the suspended running back. Shortly after the Chiefs suspended their troubled running back Wednesday for two weeks, Schaffer said he had spoken with the players' union and would appeal. He has also been talking with Chiefs' general manager Scott Pioli about some sort of agreement that could affect the future for Johnson, who needs only 75 yards to break Kansas City's career rushing record. Johnson, a two-time Pro Bowler, used a gay slur on his Twitter account on Sunday night and also questioned his coach's ability. He repeated the slur to reporters the next day. Schaffer said the two-week suspension, which would include one game check, would cost his client more than $600,000. He may also face further punishment by the league. [...]

L.J. thinks two games is too many
Larry Johnson will have an appeal heard on his two-week suspension from the Chiefs either next Monday or Tuesday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Our View: Well at least he learned his lesson. After probably being lucky to not get released immediately by the Chiefs (it's probable that he still will be), he still thinks a two-game suspension is too much for insubordination and insulting an entire group of American citizens and Chiefs fans. There's clueless, and then there's Larry Johnson.

Chiefs | Could inquire whether L. Johnson violated contract conditions
ESPN.com reports the Kansas City Chiefs could be checking to see whether RB Larry Johnson violated contract provisions that would allow the Chiefs to cut him with reduced financial obligation after Johnson's use of a gay slur. The issue became moot when the team elected not to cut him.

Larry Johnson to be released?
The Chiefs will reportedly part ways with Larry Johnson in the near future, according to RealGM.com.
Our View: The news is said to be coming from an undisclosed team source, and should be viewed as speculation for now. Johnson has fallen out of favor with the Chiefs for using a gay slur, which is not the first time that has happened. He also had negative comments toward head coach Todd Haley, and the former stud rusher is currently isolated from the team. The Chiefs are on their bye this week.

News: Chiefs running back Larry Johnson used a gay slur for the second time in as many days Monday, the Kansas City Star reported on its Web site. Sitting in front of his locker, he turned away and muttered the slur in telling reporters to get "out of here," according to the Star, which recorded the comment. On Sunday, Johnson belittled rookie head coach Todd Haley on Twitter in a series of posts that also included the same gay slur. Haley said the Chiefs were looking into "a couple of situations" involving Johnson, but declined further comment. Asked about the slurs, he said the team was "gathering facts." News: Chiefs RB Larry Johnson has belittled his rookie head coach on what appears to be his Twitter account, saying Todd Haley has "nuthn" when it comes to NFL-quality credentials. The remarks were posted several hours after the Chiefs were routed at home 37-7 by San Diego in Week 7. One tweet read: "My father got more creditentials than most of these pro coaches." That was followed by: "My father played for the coach from "rememeber the titans". Our coach played golf. My father played for redskins briefley. Our coach. Nuthn." Haley did not play high school or college football and attended college on a golf scholarship. He was hired by first-year general manager Scott Pioli to replace the fired Herm Edwards. Bill Williamson, of ESPN.com, reports the agent for Kansas City Chiefs RB Larry Johnson said late Sunday, Oct. 25, that his client was simply trying to promote his own father and not to discredit head coach Todd Haley in a Twitter rant. "I talked to Larry about it and he was focusing more on pumping up his father than anything else," agent Peter Schaffer said. "He wasn’t trying to downgrade anyone … yes, everyone is frustrated after a loss like this but I wouldn’t put too much into it." Johnson had just 49 rushing yards on 16 carries in Week 7.

L.J. comes unglued on Twitter
Yahoo! Sports reports that Chiefs running back Larry Johnson went further off the rails on his Twitter account on Sunday night, at one point using a homophobic slur before reminding the public that they do not "stop my checks." For good measure, he assured everyone that he was laughing at them. All of this came after he mocked Chiefs head coach Todd Haley for not being a former professional football player like his father "briefly" was.
Our View: This is simply an unmitigated disaster for the Chiefs. It would be for Johnson if he did not seem to be reveling in it so much. He might not be for much longer, however. He is averaging an absurdly abysmal 2.7 yards per carry this season, and Haley was been known to be swift and decisive when it comes to dealing with malcontents. The Chiefs may very well release him, and with his 30th birthday just weeks away, it is very possible no one will sign him. Stay tuned.

Johnson takes a shot at head coach Haley
Larry Johnson criticized head coach Todd Haley on his Twitter account after Kansas City's loss on Sunday, saying, "My father played for the coach from "rememeber the titans". Our coach played golf. My father played for redskins briefley. Our coach. Nuthn."
Our View: Johnson gained just 49 yards off 16 carries in the Chiefs' blowout loss to San Diego. Expect to hear more from this developing story, and it wouldn't be at all surprising to see Johnson get slapped with a team-inflicted suspension for a game, if not more. Again, this is just speculation, but Haley has taken a hard approach on his players in the past, the Chiefs aren't going anywhere this season, and Johnson has been very ineffective as the team's starting back. Add it all up, and you have to believe that Haley will be looking to make an example that such insubordinate behavior is unacceptable.

LJ shut down by Chargers
Larry Johnson was shut down by the Chargers in today's 37-7 loss at Arrowhead Stadium, as he only gained 49 rushing yards on 16 carries. He also caught one pass for seven receiving yards.
Our View: Johnson has not been a stud running back since 2006, and is having a terrible 2009 campaign, averaging 2.7 yards per carry. He is not likely going to break out in Week 9 at Jacksonville following their bye.

packers should go and sign hikm
I am a fan who can vouch for Larry's roots, because I grew up knowing his grandfather and his grandmother. From eastern North Carolina, I now live in Kansas, not far from Lawrence, and I am pulling for Larry now. Larry and Larry Sr have made Herman and Dorothy proud in so many ways.
