Orton still not ready
Kyle Orton's ankle has still not healed to the point where he would be able to start against the Chargers on Sunday, according to the Denver Post.
Our View: At this point, word on his injury could either be gamesmanship or a motivational ploy for the Broncos. He's a true game-time decision, and you will likely have to wait until around an hour before kickoff to know his status.

Broncos | Orton misses practice Friday
Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos QB Kyle Orton (ankle) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 20. He is listed as questionable for Week 11.
Orton doesn't look good for Sunday
News: Kyle Orton missed a third consecutive practice Friday because of a sprained left ankle and has only an outside chance of playing Sunday when the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers meet with first place in the AFC West on the line. Broncos backup Chris Simms again took first-team practice repetitions, as he has all week in the absence of Orton, who was injured during last week's 27-17 loss at Washington. This would be Simms' first start since 2006. Listed as questionable, Orton will be put through a workout before Sunday's game and how he performs will determine whether he plays, coach Josh McDaniels said Friday. "If Kyle is completely able to do what we're going to ask him to do in the game plan, and can do it at a level that allows us to be successful, then we could give him an opportunity to play," McDaniels said. "If he's not capable of playing at that level, or doing some of the things that we need him to be able to do, then you go with the guy who practiced." [...]

Orton "absolutely" could play
Kyle Orton (ankle) is not practicing in Broncos practice on Friday, but still has a definite chance of playing on Sunday, according to the Denver Post.
Our View: "Absolutely" was the word used by head coach Josh McDaniels when asked if Orton, who is officially listed as questionable, may be able to play on Sunday. With this game, against the Chargers, being for pretty much all the marbles in the NFC West, expect Orton to at least begin the game as Denver's quarterback.

Orton likely out Week 11
News: Chris Simms was taking snaps with the Broncos' starters again Thursday. That makes it increasingly likely that Simms will start against San Diego on Sunday in place of Kyle Orton, who sprained his left ankle last week against Washington. Coach Josh McDaniels said Orton was feeling better, but Simms was the one under center during the portion of practice open to the media Thursday. Orton hasn't started a game since Sept. 24, 2006, when he played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was battered so badly by the Carolina Panthers that he needed emergency surgery to remove his spleen. Orton should consider cautious approach
It sounds as though Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton is going to try to rush back from his left ankle injury. That could be a little dangerous. Last season in Chicago, Orton rushed back from a high ankle sprain in his right leg, but his accuracy and mobility fell off after his return. This ankle injury isn't as bad because it's not on his plant foot and it's not believed to be a high ankle sprain. Still, if he does play -- Orton didn't practice Wednesday -- he might not be as effective as he was...

News: Kyle Orton isn't practicing as the Broncos install their game plan for their AFC West showdown with the Chargers. Report: Orton to play; coach unsure
News: The Denver Post reports that Broncos QB Kyle Orton is considered questionable by head coach Josh McDaniels even though an NFL Network report says that he will play vs. San Diego in Week 11. Orton hurt his ankle in Week 10 at Washington after having a stellar first half (nearly 200 passing yards, two TDs to Brandon Marshall). "We're going to see how he progresses during the course of the next few days and see if and when Kyle is ready to go," McDaniels said. "Whether that's Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (or) not at all. Broncos | Orton says offense needs to make more plays
Frank Schwab, of the Colorado Springs Gazette, reports Denver Broncos QB Kyle Orton said the offense needs more big plays to have more success. "We have also got to find a way to make some bigger plays, no question about it," Orton said. "It’s tough to always rely on eight-, 10-play drives to score points, but it would be great to find ways to score in three- or four-play drives."

Orton threw for 221 yards but was intercepted three times without throwing a touchdown in the Broncos' 28-10 loss to Pittsburgh on Monday night.
Impacts: The luster is quickly fading from Orton's fast start in Denver, and it won't get any easier next week, when he faces Washington's top-ranked pass defense. He does not look like a strong fantasy play at the moment.

Denver’s 6-0 start? A distant memory. Orton struggles with three picks in loss
Kyle Orton had his worst outing of the season on Monday night as the Broncos fell to the Steelers 28-10. Orton finished the game 23-for-39 passing for no touchdowns and three interceptions.
Our View: Orton was bad tonight, but it wasn't all his fault, as his team only rushed for 27 yards. This isn't a surprise since he was going against the Steelers' defense, but Orton and the Broncos' offense was exposed a bit tonight. He should only be your starting quarterback in good matchup siuations against bad opposing defenses.

Orton had his least productive game as a Bronco in a 30-7 loss to Baltimore on Sunday. He threw for a season-low 152 yards and was held without a touchdown pass for the first time.

Status: Questionable. Likely will play
As of Saturday afternoon, Kyle Orton's left ankle had not recovered enough to play Sunday, according to the Denver Post. This does not mean that Orton is out for Sunday's game against the Chargers. He'll still test the ankle Sunday morning to see if he can go. But considering this is a 4:15 ET start, you should not be waiting on this situation in any leagues. Chris Simms took the first-team reps all week and will start if Orton sits.
