Orton had a mostly reassuring answer to his dismal Denver debut, saying he feels his play is its best ever after he completed 16 of his first 19 throws with a touchdown before a relapse into another mistake. One could almost hear the entire Rocky Mountain region exhale after Orton came out slinging from shotgun formation - and this time completed passes to those wearing the same uniforms. Last week at San Francisco, the former Bears starter had interceptions end each of his first three drives. "I think he acquitted himself fairly well," Broncos coach Josh McDaniels said. Seven of his first 16 completions were on safe, swing passes and wide-receiver screens. Orton threw deep only once all night, a throwaway just before Patrick Kerney hit him on the first drive. "I've got an awful lot of confidence right now, I really do," he said, knowing his next game is a reunion with Chicago and Jay Cutler, the quarterback Denver traded to get him. "This is the best offense I've ever played with. This is the best talent around me that I've ever had. I just feel that my game right now is as good as it has ever been." Our View: He did manage to throw another interception, but it was encouraging to see him not looking like a total train-wreck. Obviously, you are in trouble if he's your number one quarterback, but he should be a fine enough back-up.

Kyle Orton completed 15-of-29 passes for 171 yards and an interception against the Chargers in Week 11. Chris Simms started the game and once again looked hapless, completing just 2-of-4 passes for 10 yards and losing a fumble. A hobbled Orton came on to a chorus of cheers to start the fourth series and immediately began moving the offense. The momentum stalled with a goal-line fumble, and the passing game fell flat thereafter. Orton didn't re-injure his ankle, so he'll likely start Thursday against the Giants.
