The move Friday came less than a day after the four-year veteran started the exhibition finale against the Lions that Detroit won 17-6. Simpson played all 16 games last season and had 64 tackles. He missed most of 2007 with a leg injury he suffered in the season opener. TheScore.com is reporting that the Lions have acquired defensive back Ko Simpson from the Buffalo Bills for an undisclosed draft pick. Simpson made 66 tackles for the Bills last year.

Our View: The Lions can always use players who have shown they can succeed in the league, and the Bills felt Smipson was expendable after their decision to draft Jairous Byrd. Simpson should be able to compete for snaps on a Lions' defense that was awful last season.

Lions extended an original-pick tender offer to restricted free agent S Ko Simpson. The team can match any offer or receive a fourth-round pick in return. Simpson, who was lost for last season with a serious knee injury in November, will receive $1.176 million in 2010. It's believed he needed surgery.
