Our View: It was believed that Burgess had been cut by the team, but actually he was moved to the Pats. With Jerod Mayo down with an injury, Burgess provides some depth at the linebacker position until Mayo is ready to return.

The minimum amount of time he will likely miss is between 6-8 weeks, and a source close to Mayo admitted that he appears to have a long recovery ahead of him. A Grade III sprain represents a complete tear of the MCL as opposed to Grade I and Grade II, which are incomplete tears. (CBSsports.com)
FF Today's Take: This is a significant loss for the Patriots. Mayo was a large factor in New England's decision to trade Mike Vrabel during the off-season. Those in IDP leagues will have to check back for updates on Mayo's replacement but vetern Paris Lenon should be in the mix to see some more playing time.
