Updating a previous report, the St. Louis Rams have announced they have signed unrestricted free-agent FS James Butler (Giants). Terms of the contract were not disclosed but an earlier report stated it is a four-year deal worth as much as $17 million.

James Butler has officially inked his deal with the Rams, according to the Associated Press. Terms were not disclosed, but it is believed to be a four-year contract worth $17MM.
Our View: Butler follows new head coach Steve Spagnuolo to St. Louis as they previously worked together with the Giants, and Spagnuolo is pleased to add a player he is familiar with. Butler is expected to replace Corey Chavous at strong safety, who struggled in pass coverage.
