Taylor will miss the rest of the season because of a thumb injury.

Impacts: Taylor will be placed on injured reserve for the final three games after tearing ligaments in his left thumb Sunday at Chicago. Taylor had hoped to play though the injury, but a second opinion confirmed the need for season-ending surgery. The Jaguars worked out running backs Alvin Pearman and LaBrandon Toefield on Wednesday and were expected to sign one of them to fill Taylor's roster spot.

Taylor will be placed on injured reserve for the final three games after tearing ligaments in his left thumb Sunday at Chicago. Taylor had hoped to play though the injury, but a second opinion confirmed the need for season-ending surgery. Taylor will finish this season with 556 yards rushing and a career-low 3.9 yards a carry. He ranks 16th on the NFL's all-time rushing list with 11,271 yards, 81 behind John Riggins. The Jaguars signed Alvin Pearman on Wednesday to fill Taylor's roster spot. "Fred is one of the all-time great Jaguars," said head coach Jack Del Rio. "He's been terrific on the field. In my entire time here, in the six years I've been here, he’s been a stud. He’s been really good. So I have a lot of respect and admiration for him, and so long as he is healthy and so as long as his body is in shape the way it is, I mean he's defying Father Time a little bit here and at some point it'll catch up, but we don't think it's caught him yet. Status: Out. Out indefinitely
Fred Taylor (ankle surgery) still has not resumed practicing. It's impressive that the Pats have been able to keep him off injured reserve so long. Taylor hasn't played or practiced in seven weeks and remains without a timetable for return. He's deservedly on most fantasy waiver wires.
