Report: F. Jones out for Week 4
News: Cowboys RB Felix Jones will miss Week 4 at Denver with a sprained PCL, reports ESPN. Head coach Wade Phillips said Tuesday that there is not a timetable for his return, but the report stats Jones might miss Week 5 as well so that he'll have three weeks of rest heading into Week 7 (the Cowboys have a bye in Week 6). Phillips did say Tuesday that RB Marion Barber is getting better but wouldn't commit to him playing against the Broncos. Jones rushed for 94 yards on eight carries and caught one pass for 20 yards against the Panthers in Week 3 before leaving in the third quarter. [...]
Jones likely out 1-to-2 weeks
ESPN.com is reporting that Cowboys' running back Felix Jones will miss 1-to-2 weeks with a sprained PCL in his left knee. Jones will be evaluated both this week and next to determine when he will be able to return.
Our View: This injury is unfortunate for both Jones and the Cowboys, as he looked outstanding on Monday night before going down. Tashard Choice will be the biggest benefactor of Jones being out, and he could carry the load this week if Marion Barber isn't 100 percent.

Sprained PCL
IRVING, Texas (AP) - Cowboys running back Felix Jones has a sprained ligament in his left knee, and his status for the upcoming game at Denver will depend on how he feels this week. (AP)
FF Today's Take: This week's status of Felix Jones and Marion Barber (strained quad) likely won't be determined until late in the week. Add RB Tashard Choice if he is still available in your league and monitor the injury reports before setting your lineup.

NFL: Fragile Felix Could Miss Weeks
Despite reports that Felix Jones (sprained PCL) would miss multiple weeks, coach Wade Phillips isn't ruling him out for Sunday's game at Denver, reports ESPN.com.Mancini’s Take: It doesn’t look as though Jones will ever be a 20-carry-per-game type of back. The darned sprained PCL is a nasty injury that make take anywhere from a couple of weeks to over a month to bounce back from. It robs you of your agility and lateral movement. It’s really too bad because the...
Felix Jones set to miss Broncos encounter (Reuters)
Reuters - Dallas Cowboys running back Felix Jones is expected to miss this weekend's game against the Denver Broncos due to a knee injury, the team reported on their website (http://www.dallascowboys.com) on Tuesday.
Cowboys coach optimistic about Jones in Week 4
ESPN.com reports that Cowboys coach Wade Phillips says he's hopeful that running back Felix Jones will play on Sunday against Denver.
Our View: This sounds like Phillips is being overly optimistic. Earlier reports have Jones missing Week 4 and possibly being out two weeks with a strained PCL, so we're not banking on him playing. With Marion Barber's status in doubt as well, Tashard Choice could be a nice play at running back on Sunday.

Sprained PCL for F. Jones
News: Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips said RB Felix Jones has a sprained PCL and doesn't have a timetable for his return. While Phillips wouldn't say whether or not he'd miss this week's game at Denver, several reports say that Jones won't play. Report: Jones out Sunday
ESPN Dallas reports that Felix Jones will be unable to go this Sunday against the Broncos as he battles a strained knee.
Our View: A bad break for Jones, who rushed for 94 yards on just eight carries in the Cowboys win over the Panthers on Monday night. With starter Marion Barber also ailing, Tashard Choice may be the feature back for the Cowboys in Denver.

Jones may miss two weeks
ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that running back Felix Jones could be forced to miss up to two weeks because of his strained quadriceps.
Our View: Of course, today is just the first day after he suffered the injury, but the already famously creaky Jones will likely take the maximum amount of time to recover. Marion Barber is likely to return in Week 4, but if not, Tashard Choice will be the choice at running back for Dallas.
Report: F. Jones out two weeks
News: The Dallas Morning News reports that Cowboys RB Felix Jones will have an MRI on his knee Monday after straining it in the third quarter Week 3 vs. Carolina, but ESPN reports that Jones is expected to miss three weeks (two games) with the injury. Another Dallas RB Injured
Felix Jones Suffers Knee Injury, MRI Today
Jerry Jones said Tuesday that he is concerned about the severity of running back Felix Jones' knee injury. The Cowboys owner said Jones was unable to loosen his left knee after suffering what the team has initially diagnosed as a knee strain that would be re-evaluated, indicating the likelihood the second-year pro will have an MRI. It also marked the second time in three games this season that Jones was too injured to finish. He suffered a bruised quadriceps in the season-opener against Tampa Bay. (ESPN)
FF Today's Take: Jones was on his way to a monster evening totaling 114 yards on just nine touches before getting injured. Tashard Choice becomes a hot waiver wire pickup with Barber (thigh) and Jones (knee) likely to spend more time in the training room than on the practice field this week.
Felix Jones awaiting MRI
Felix Jones will have an MRI on his strained quad on Tuesday, according to the Dallas Morning News. He had 94 yards on eight carries before pulling up lame in Monday night's game. He originally strained his quad in the season opener.
Our View: There did not seem to be a lot of concern regarding his injury last night, but this is the same injury that Marion Barber is dealing with. We'll wait to see what the MRI results are first, but don't be shocked to see Jones miss a game or two. Tashard Choice is the top option for the Cowboys if both Jones and Barber are unavailable next week at Denver.
Cowboys | Concerned with F. Jones’ injury
Ed Werder, of ESPN, reports Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday, Sept. 29, he is concerned about the severity of the injury to RB Felix Jones (knee). Jones was unable to loosen his left knee after suffering what the team has initially diagnosed as a knee strain in Week 3. Jones will likely undergo an MRI.

Choice gets gold star for Dallas
Tashard Choice was a standout in tonight's 21-7 home win over the Panthers, as he broke loose for 82 rushing yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. He also caught four passes for 36 receiving yards.
Our View: Choice stepped up tonight with Marion Barber (quad) inactive, and with Felix Jones suffering a strained knee.
Jones goes for 114 total yards, leaves
News: Dallas RB Felix Jones looked great in place of injured starter Marion Barber on Monday night against Carolina. That is, until he too got hurt. He returned shortly for a play or so but ultimately gave way to Tashard Choice, who also looked good against Carolina. [...]

Josh Ellis, of DallasCowboys.com, reports Dallas Cowboys RB Felix Jones (leg) was having his left leg looked at during the team’s Week 3 game.
Cowboys-Panthers scoreless after 1st quarter
Felix Jones kept picking up yards in his first career start for the Dallas Cowboys, who still were unable to get any points and were in a scoreless tie with Carolina after the first quarter Monday night.
Cowboys Week 3 inactives
Cowboys inactives: Running back Marion Barber, safety Mike Hamlin, linebacker Jason Williams, guard Montrae Holland, guard/center Duke Preson, tackle Pat McQuistan, and receiver Kevin Ogletree. The emergency quarterback is Stephen McGee.
Our View: The most significant absence is star running back Marion Barber. Felix Jones and Tashard Choice will try to get the running game going against Carolina with him out of action.

Barber will not play
Marion Barber has reportedly been ruled out for tonight's home game against Carolina, according to the Cowboys' official website.
Our View: Barber was not deemed fit to play while nursing a quadriceps injury. Felix Jones and Tashard Choice will handle the workload at running back in his absence.
Barber "Doubtful" According To Jones
Listed As Questionable
Just caught up to Jerry Jones at Gilley's in Dallas and he said it is doubtful Marion Barber will play tonight against Carolina. Barber is listed as questionable and did not take part in a full practice during the week. Jones said the Cowboys would be "conservative" with Barber with a long season still to come and the health of Felix Jones and Tashard Choice. Reading between the lines on Jones word and Wade Phillips on Saturday I would not expect to see Barber tonight. (Dallas Morning News)
FF Today's Take: Expect to see a lot of Felix Jones and Tashard Choice in tonight's game against Carolina.
Barber doubtful for Monday night
According to the Dallas Morning News, Cowboys' running back Marion Barber is doubtful for Monday night's game against the Panthers. Owner Jerry Jones told the media that the team will be cautious with Barber going forward.
Our View: After Barber missed the walk through yesterday, it was widely believed that he wouldn't be available tonight, so this comes as no shock. Felix Jones and Tashard Choice will pick up the load, and we will keep you updated on Barber's status for Week 4 as this week wears on.
Barber doesn't participate in walk through
Marion Barber didn't particpate in the Cowboy's walk through today, and is unlikely to be active for the Monday night game against Carolina, according to Jay Glazer's twitter page.
Our View: If Barber is unable to go, look for Felix Jones and Tashard Choice to share the workload and both could be solid plays against a leaky Panthers run defense. Regardless, we consider Barber a very risky play even if he is active.
Barber remains a game-time decision
Marion Barber (quad) continues to be tabbed as a game-time decision for Monday night, though it's unlikely that he'd get many, if any, carries if he can only be used on a limited basis, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Our View: Felix Jones and Tashard Choice figure to see a heavy workload against Carolina on Monday night. Given that the game is on Monday night, it would probably be best for you not to start Barber this week and have commit to him since it seems at least 50-50 that he ends up being out, unless of course you also own Jones or Choice and can sub them in before kickoff.
Barber Limited Friday
Coach Won't Name A Starter If Barber Sits
Marion Barber practiced Friday.Again, what he did was limited. Felix Jones and Tashard Choice did the heavy lifting during team drills. So, who starts if Barber can't go Monday night? Does Jones slip into that spot, or do the Cowboys start Choice and leave Jones in his current role _ yet with more touches than he got in the first two games?"If Marion were not to play, as to who is starting and who's playing, that will be determined later on,'' head coach Wade Phillips said. "We have a plan, but we're not announcing it right now." (Dallas Morning News)
FF Today's Take: This will be a tough call for fantasy owners who have to turn in lineup by Sunday morning. You should play it safe and keep Barber on your bench and expect Jones and Choice to see significant action.
Coach Wade Phillips wouldn't say Friday which tailback he'll
Coach Wade Phillips wouldn't say Friday which tailback he'll start on Monday night should Marion Barber (quads) be inactive vs. Carolina. Barber was "limited" again in practice and the Cowboys can get away with sitting him in this matchup. [...]
Choice to get "at least" ten carries in Barber's absence
Tashard Choice is will likely get "at least" ten carries in Week 3 if Marion Barber (quad) is unable to go at running back for the Cowboys, according to Matt Mosley of ESPN.
Our View: Even though Felix Jones will get the start if Barber can't play, Choice could have a big night with ten or so carries against the Panthers' leaky run defense, which has allowed 336 rushing yards in just two games in 2009.
Jones should see about 20 carries
ESPN's Matt Mosley says Felix Jones will be in line for 20 or so carries this Monday against the Panthers if Marion Barber (quad) is unable to go.
Our View: It has already been reported that Jones would get more than the seven carries he had in Week 2 even if Barber were to play, so 20 in his absence sounds about right. The Panthers have allowed an astronomical 168 rushing yards per game so far in 2009, so he could have a very productive night.
Barber not looking likely
ESPN's Matt Mosley says he would "be a little surprised" if the Cowboys tried to play Marion Barber (quad) on Monday night against the Panthers.
Our View: He says if it were a playoff game Barber would be much more likely to fight through his quad injury, but that since it is only Week 3, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice will probably have to suffice for the Cowboys.
Even if Marion Barber is able to suit up Monday against the
Even if Marion Barber is able to suit up Monday against the Panthers, Jones is likely to see added action in Week 3, the Dallas Morning News reports. "The other two know that their roles are going to have to be picked up a bit," Cowboys running backs coach Skip Peete said of Jones and Tashard Choice. "Even if [Barber] is healthy, he may not be able to take as much of a load as he's taken in the past." [...]

Jones to get more carries in Week 3
Felix Jones is in line to get more carries this Sunday than the seven he had in Week 2, even if regular feature back Marion Barber (quad) is able to go, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Our View: He reeled off 96 yards on those measly seven carries, so more touches will almost certainly be the case when Dallas hosts Carolina.

Cowboys running back coach Skip Peete said that Felix Jones and Tashard Choice will get more carries this week even if Marion Barber (quad) plays. "The other two know that their roles are going to have to be picked up a bit," Peete said. [...]
Barber practices Wednesday
The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Cowboys' running back Marion Barber practiced with the team on Wednesday. Barber caught a few passes and moved in a light jog before commenting that he wants to play this weekend.
Our View: Barber shocked some people by participating, even in a limited basis, in practice today. He has said from the beginning that he wants to play this weekend, and we actually believe he has a chance since he was on the field today. Barber owners should stay updated on his status, as should Felix Jones and Tashard Choice owners, but it still seems very likely he will either be out or very limited this weekend.
Barber may play in Week 3
Updating a previous report, Cowboys running back Marion Barber still hopes to play in Monday's Week 3 contest against the Panthers, according to ESPN.com.
Our View: An earlier reports had Barber missing at least 1-2 weeks with a strained hamstring, but now he's being considered day-to-day. He'll likely be a game-time decision as the Cowboys are using the "wait and see" approach, but you may want to grab Tashard Choice or Felix Jones if they are available, as they'll likely get increased carries even if Barber does play.
Jones will likely see an expanded role against the Panthers
Jones will likely see an expanded role against the Panthers on Monday night with Marion Barber (quad) expected to miss the game, NBC 5 in Dallas reports. [...]
Quad Strain Could Sideline Barber
Day-To-Day
A quad injury did what New York's defense couldn't. It shut down Marion Barber at the end of Sunday's game. And it could keep him out even longer. An MRI taken Monday morning confirmed Barber suffered a quad strain. When asked later in the afternoon if the injury could force the running back to miss some time, head coach Wade Phillips said, "We'll have to wait and see on that." How the injury responds in the next few days will determine if he's able to play against Carolina. Barber has an extra day to recover since the Cowboys don't play again until Monday night. If he can't go or is limited against the Panthers it would mean more time for Tashard Choice and Felix Jones. (Dallas Morning News)
FF Today's Take: Tashard Choice will be a hot waiver wire pickup this week and be a decent play against the Carolina defense should Barber miss the upcoming Monday night game.
Report: Barber out 1-to-2 weeks
Updating a previous report, the NBC affiliate of the Dallas-Fort Worth area is reporting that Cowboys' running back Marion Barber will miss 1-to-2 weeks with his strained quad injury.
Our View: It looks like the Cowboys have almost officially ruled Barber out for this weekend, so now would be a good time to jump on Tashard Choice for anyone needing running back help. Felix Jones will also get an increased load this week, so if you have him it is probably worth starting him. We will continue to monitor Barber's status.
Choice could see increased workload
ESPN.com is reporting that Cowboys' running back Tashard Choice could see a boost in playing time if Marion Barber is unable to play this weekend. Choice would split carries with Felix Jones in Barber's absence.
Our View: Choice made a very good impression on the team last season when he filled in due to injuries to Barber and Jones, and he could get half of the running back touches this weekend if Barber is out. He would be the likely candidate for short-yardage and goal-line situations over Jones, but he is likely to return to the third-string role when Barber gets healthy.
Barber could be sidelined with quad injury
The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Marion Barber's strained quad could keep him out for this week's game. Barber missed the end of Sunday night's game due to the injury.
Our View: The injury is only a strain, but coahc Wade Phillips didn't sound completely confident that Barber would be ready for this week. Felix Jones looks like he could be a good play this week if Barber is out or limited, so Jones owners should be aware of Barber's status.
Jones ran seven times for 96 yards and a touchdown as the Cowboys
Jones ran seven times for 96 yards and a touchdown as the Cowboys lost their opener at their new stadium 33-31 to the Giants on Sunday night.
Impacts: Jones was very effective on the ground, but he did lose a costly fumble on a kickoff return late in the first quarter, leading to a Giants field goal. Despite the fumble, the second-year back's first in eight games, Jones could see increased playing time next week with starter Marion Barber nursing a quadriceps injury.
No Word On Status Of RB Barber
Leg Injury Unknown
Marion Barber's 35-yard run with 4:02 left in the game set up the Cowboys' go-ahead touchdown. But Barber injured himself on the play. On the run, it appeared that he had broken into daylight and scored, but he suddenly went down before any Giants hit him. He hobbled to the sideline. As of late in the game, the Cowboys had not released information about Barber's injury. (Dallas Morning News)
FF Today's Take: Barber appeared to have pulled or strained something in his leg on the play. More information should become available shortly. Tashard Choice and Felix Jones would get more touches if Barber misses any time.
Barber's quad injury not serious
The Dallas Morning News reports that Marion Barber's quad injury is just a strain, and not considered serious.
Our View: So it sounds like he will play next weekend after all. In case Felix Jones somehow isn't owned in your league, however, it would be a brilliant idea to pick him up as a handcuff (and potential weekly flex play).

Details of Barber's quad injury still murky
The severity of Marion Barber's left quad injury is not yet known, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Our View: It is being called a strain, but no grade has been assigned to it. Barber seems to be perpetually banged up, though he has only missed one game in the the past three seasons. Felix Jones will be in-line for a big game against the Panthers next week if Barber is unavailable.
F. Jones scorches Giants
News: Cowboys RB Felix Jones only had seven carries against the Giants in Week 2, but boy did he make them count: He had 96 yards and a touchdown, showing off the blazing speed that has made him an appealing Fantasy option. And get this: His touchdown was from just 7 yards out, a score that normally goes to Barber, but he had left the game with an injury a play earlier. [...]

Jones picks up 96 yards in loss
Felix Jones only had seven carries on Sunday against the Giants, but he rattled off 96 yards and a touchdown. He also had six kick returns for 134 yards and a fumble.
Our View: Perhaps more importantly, Marion Barber appeared to have injured his thigh on his last run of the game. Jones is a fine flex play most weeks, but if Barber is unable to go, Jones will be a must play.
Barber exits with leg injury
Marion Barber was on his way to his second touchdown of the night when he appeared to pull his left quad and hit the turf with only the end zone in front of him. At the point of the injury, he had 124 yards rushing and 31 yards receiving.
Our View: Felix Jones punched it in the end zone on the very next play. This is why you handcuff guys. Barber walked off the field without any help, but was pointing to his quad as he was doing so. His return is questionable.

Felix Jones will be limited in practice this week as he deals with a bruised quad, according to the Dallas Morning News.

FF Today's Take: We've anticipated a bigger role for Felix Jones in the Cowboys offense and it appears that will happen if he can stay healthy. Barber's value takes a slight hit while both backs should do well in the Cowboys offensive scheme.

Jones looking good on short runs
