ESPN\'s Sal Paolantonio reports Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio said Friday, Nov. 14, that LB Mike Peterson has been permanently demoted to backup status. LB Daryl Smith will start at middle linebacker.

Mike Peterson has been unseated by Daryl Smith as the Jaguars' starting middle linebacker, according to ESPN.Peterson is the Jaguars' leading tackler (49), but fell out of favor with coach Jack Del Rio for challenging him in a meeting, which led to his demotion. Justin Durant will move to the weakside with Clint Ingram roaming the strongside.
