The Conta Costa Times reports that Darrius Heyward-Bey re-injured his right hamstring during Wednesday's practice. DHB, who originally suffered the injury in early May, grabbed his hamstring on an out pattern and let out an audible groan. He'll reportedly be sidelined until training camp.

News: The Press Democrat reports Raiders rookie WR Darrius Heyward-Bey, who did not practice Wednesday to rest a sore right hamstring, should not be out long. He said he ran at about 95-percent speed Wednesday, and coach Tom Cable expects him to return to practice next week. “You want to be out there with the quarterback all the time," Heyward-Bey said. "But you got to understand, we got two more weeks of OTAs, we got training camp, we got preseason. It's a lot of time. But you don't want to be too relaxed." Heyward-Bey also has to deal with his contract. He said he wants it done "as soon as possible." to avoid a holdout. "I want to be out here in training camp ready to go because that's the only way our offense can move is if everybody is out there practicing," he said. [...]

Heyward-Bey likely to return next week

According to the Baltimore Sun, Raiders receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey plans to return to practice next week after recovering from a hamstring injury. Heyward-Bey told the paper that his hamstring is at about 95 percent right now.

Our View: Heyward-Bey needs to get back to practice, especially after dropping three catchable passes in his last prctice on May 9. He will still be in the starting lineup for the Raiders at the beginning of the season barring a setback, but the speedy wideout seems to have a long way to go before he is ready to be a legitimate fantasy wide receiver.

The Contra Costa Times reports that Darrius Heyward-Bey was held out of Wednesday's OTA's due to a lingering hamstring injury.

Our View: This injury has followed the wide receiver for a month, and the Raiders may be better off shutting him down until he is an unquestionable 100 percent healthy. Heyward-Bey's value is nearly entirely wrapped up in his speed, making his hamstrings very important.

To say that DHB's deal is causing a market nightmare is incredibly silly. This is the first place I've seen anyone question the amount of money he received. It was right on par for the #7 overall pick based on precedent and inflation.

The NFL does not do recessions.
