Mathias Kiwanuka accused Chris Samuels of a dirty play when the Redskins' tackle fell on the back of his ankle after being beaten on a pass rush on the final play of Thursday's season opener, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Kiwanuka said, "Honestly, I thought it was a dirty play. There's no question about it. He was definitely beat and instead of recovering or giving up, I don't know how many options you had, but I just don't think there is any place for that in the NFL." Samuels responded, "On that particular play I was just trying to protect my quarterback. It was never my intention to go out there and injure another player."The Giants and Redskins meet again in Week 13, giving Kiwanuka and Samuels plenty of time to cool down.

The Associated Press reports New York Giants DL Mathias Kiwanuka said Friday, Sept. 5, that Washington Redskins OT Chris Samuels made a dirty play when he fell on the back of his ankle on the final play of the team's Week 1 game. "Honestly, I thought it was a dirty play," Kiwanuka said. "There's no question about it. He was definitely beat and instead of recovering or giving up, I don't know how many options you had, but I just don't think there is any place for that in the NFL." Samuels said he was not trying to hurt Kiwanuka. "On that particular play I was just trying to protect my quarterback," Samuels said through a team spokesman. "It was never my intention to go out there and injure another player."
