Calvin Johnson back on track
Calvin Johnson's 100-yard receiving game on Sunday was his first since Week 4.
Our View: With 245 yards the past two weeks, Johnson finally looks over his knee injury, and is beginning to develop a nice chemistry with rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford. It would be nice if could stay hot in Week 12, and help the Lions avoid another embarrassing Thanksgiving day loss.

Megatron destroys Browns
Calvin Johnson lit up the Browns in today's 38-37 win at Ford Field, as he hauled in seven passes for 161 yards and a touchdown. His touchdown covered 75 yards on a strike from rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford.
Our View: The stud receiver performed up to high expectations for fantasy owners in a favorable matchup against Cleveland. He finally reached the endzone after failing to score in his previous five outings, and looks to be past his knee injury.

Calvin Johnson compiled eight receptions for 84 yards in the Week 10 loss at Minnesota.

Stafford expected to play Week 10
Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford (knee) was limited again in Friday's practice, but is fully expected to play on Sunday.
Our View: Staford has been limited all week and has a tough task ahead of him, taking on the Vikings, but it appears he will have his number one target back. Calvin Johnson has practiced in full the last three days so should be able to hook up on Sunday. till, Stafford is a dicey fantasy start.

Television cameras caught a visibly frustrated Johnson coming off the field a number of times Week 9, and there was one point where Stafford and Johnson had a cold exchange on the sideline. Stafford appeared like he was trying to talk to Johnson, but Johnson seemed to ignore him. Johnson said, “There is no problem with us. People are just blowing that out of proportion.â€
Johnson: No feud with Stafford
News: Lions coach Jim Schwartz says there's no feud between Calvin Johnson and Matt Stafford. During Sunday's game against Seattle, television cameras caught what appeared to be uncomfortable exchanges between the receiver and quarterback. Stafford threw five interceptions in the 32-20 loss. Johnson had two catches for 27 yards after missing the previous two games because of a knee injury. He was targeted nine times. "I haven't seen the TV replays, because there's no reason for me to watch them - we're fine," he said. "People are blowing this way out of proportion. Trust me, no one is going to be happy during a game like that. If you win, all this goes out the window." [...]

Rift between Johnson, Stafford a non-issue
mLive.com is reporting that the rift between Lions' receiver Calvin Johnson and quarterback Matt Stafford is not an issue for the team. Johnson and Stafford had a sideline exchange captured on camera in Sunday's loss.
Our View: Johnson walked away from Stafford as the rookie quarterback tried to say something, but both players maintained that it was nothing to be concerned about. It was likely just a heat of the moment thing, so this shouldn't be anything for owners to be concerned about.

Lions | C. Johnson held to two catches Week 9
The Associated Press reports Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson was held to two catches for 27 yards Week 9.
Johnson has just 27 yards in return to action
Calvin Johnson caught just two passes for 27 yards in his return to the lineup on Sunday.
Our View: Johnson hasn't played since Week 5, and he only managed one catch for two yards in that game, so he has essentially been nonexistent since he racked up 133 yards against the Bears in Week 4. Magatron's balky knee has transformed him from one of the top receivers to one of the season's most disappointing.

News: Detroit WR Calvin Johnson returned to action for the first time since suffering a knee injury in Week 5 against Pittsburgh on Sunday in a Week 9 clash with the Seahawks. Coach Optimistic About Johnson, Smith
Calvin And Kevin Both Practice Friday
Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz says he's optimistic that wide receiver Calvin Johnson and running back Kevin Smith will play Sunday at Seattle. Johnson has missed Detroit's past two games with a sore right knee but practiced all week. Smith, who injured a shoulder in last weekend's 17-10 loss to St. Louis, missed Wednesday's practice but took part in workouts Thursday and Friday. Quarterback Matthew Stafford was limited in practice this week by a sore right knee but is expected to play against the Seahawks. (AP)
FF Today's Take: It appears both will play this week but check back Sunday morning before setting your lineups. Maurice Morris would get the start at running back is Smith is declared inactive.

Calvin Johnson good for Week 9?
ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting that "vibes from Detroit feel like (Calvin Johnson) probably returns to lineup" this Sunday.
Our View: Officially he's a game-time decision, but it looks like he's finally over his knee injury enough to play after sitting out the past two games. Have an alternative just in case, but be ready to play Johnson on Sunday.
Johnson could play vs. Seattle
News: Lions WR Calvin Johnson (knee) was a limited participant in practice for the second straight Thursday. Johnson remains a game-time decision. Coach Jim Schwartz said Johnson wasn't doing more work than Wednesday but added the quality of his reps has improved. Lions Starting RB & WR Nursing Injuries
Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith returned to practice today, while wide receiver Calvin Johnson continued to show progress. Smith left Sunday's 17-10 loss to St. Louis with a shoulder injury and didn't practice Wednesday. He seems likely to play Sunday at Seattle, though coach Jim Schwartz isn't saying so. "He's got a long way to go till Sunday, but I'm encouraged," Schwartz said today. "Kevin's a tough guy. Kevin's a hardworking guy. I know if he can go on Sunday, he'll go." Johnson has missed two games with a right knee injury and was listed as limited Wednesday. He continued to look good in the portion of practice open to reporters, but Schwartz continued to say he would be a game-time decision. "We're going to just be careful, do what I can do," Johnson said. "As long as I don't have any setbacks, I think it'll look brighter for Sunday." (Detroit Free Press)
FF Today's Take: It sounds like both Smith and Johnson will be gametime decisions. If Smith doesn't play, Maurice Morris would get the start at running back against Seattle.

Johnson Takes Reps With No. 1 Offense
But Smith Misses Practice With Ailing Shoulder
Detroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson practiced today and took reps with the No. 1 offense -- something he didn't do last week when he practiced. Johnson took part in all the individual drills and was running smoothly. Johnson, who injured his right knee against the Pittsburgh Steelers, did not play in Detroit's previous two games. Running back Kevin Smith, who left the St. Louis game with a left shoulder injury, did not practice today. His status for Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks is unknown. (MLive.com)
FF Today's Take: It's looking more and more likely that Johnson will suit up against the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday, who rank 18th in the NFL in pass defense, allowing an average of 224.4 yards per game. If Kevin Smith's sore shoulder keeps him from playing this weekend, Maurice Morris will get the start at RB for the Lions, facing his former team.

Johnson improving, may play Week 9
According to MLive.com, star wideout Calvin Johnson (knee) practiced on Wednesday and worked out with the first team offense.
Our View: This is something that Johnson didn't do last week, so it bodes well for his potential return in Week 9. He has missed the last two games with a knee injury, and while he did participate in all the individual drills (and looked good), he will still likely be a game-time decision on Sunday.

Calvin Johnson nearing return
Calvin Johnson (knee) is nearing his return to the gridiron, but head coach Jim Schwartz did not speculate if he will take the gridiron this weekend at Seattle, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Lions' Johnson's "Getting Closer"
Status Still Unclear For Star WR; Stafford Still Recovering
The Matthew Stafford watch isn't quite over. Detroit HC Jim Schwartz said the rookie quarterback had no problems after returning from a right knee injury, but the Lions will continue to monitor him for setbacks."There's been nothing," Schwartz said. "But is he totally out of the woods? Is this behind him? Probably not yet. He probably still has treatments and things like that. I don't know for how long."Wide receiver Calvin Johnson remains day to day with a right knee injury. "He's getting closer," Schwartz said. (Detroit Free Press)
FF Today's Take: Stafford apparently come out of Week 8 no worse for wear, but Johnson's prolonged absence has to be frustrating his fantasy owners. The Lions have scored a total of 10 points in the two games he has missed, so it's a fair bet Schwartz is chomping at the bit to get him back in the lineup as well.

Smith compiles 93 scrimmage yards
Kevin Smith had 16 carries for 45 yards and chipped in four receptions for 49 yards in the Week 8 loss to St. Louis.
Our View: Smith, who has averaged 3.1 yards per carry this season, is clearly struggling behind a shaky offensive line. Throw in the rookie quarterback along with the injury to Calvin Johnson, and you get a very weak offense. Smith is currently a No. 2 back in all formats, but we feel better about him as a No. 3 given the team (and we use that term loosely) he plays for.

Calvin Johnson caught seven balls for 161 yards and a score despite "all kinds" of bracket and double coverages from Cleveland in Week 11. Kevin Smith's biggest game of the year also freed up the passing game to take shots downfield. Johnson beat the entire Browns defense on his 75-yard score. Assuming Matthew Stafford (left shoulder) is able to finish out the season, the Lions' offense has dangerous potential for the final six games.
