Calvin Johnson is questionable for Sunday's home game against the Rams, according to the Lions' official website. He was limited in practice for the last two days while nursing a knee ailment.
Our View: The stud receiver is progressing, but will be a game-time call. Hopefully Johnson can play for fantasy owners, as the Rams are ranked 30th in total defense.

Calvin Johnson likely playing Sunday
mLive.com is reporting that Lions' receiver Calvin Johnson practiced in a limited fashion on Thursday. If Johnson doesn't suffer a setback before Sunday, he will likely play in the contest against the Rams.
Our View: Calvin ran some routes and caught passes today, and he didn't look hobbled by the knee at all. Unless it swells up tomorrow, expect him to go on Sunday. We will continue to update his status until a final decision is made.
Stafford likely starting Sunday
Although the Lions have not announced who their starting quarterback will be this week, all signs point to rookie Matthew Stafford getting the nod, according to mLive.com. Stafford practiced in full on Thursday, and he looks healthy enough to play this week.
Our View: Stafford has practiced with the team all week, but it looks like coach Jim Schwartz will wait to name his starter until tomorrow. Stafford will have a nice match-up against the Rams, and it also looks like he will have Calvin Johnson back. If you are going to start Stafford, this looks like the week to do it.
Stafford full-go again Wednesday
mLive.com is reporting that Lions' quarterback Matthew Stafford practiced in full for the second straight day on Wednesday. Stafford's status for Sunday against the Rams is still unknown at this point.
Our View: It sure looks like Stafford is going to play Sunday, as he has practice and looked sharp for two straight days. There was some concern that his knee might not respond well after yesterday's workout, but he was back out there today. Owners should expect him to play, but check back before the game to be sure. Calvin Johnson missed again today, so Stafford's value will be hurt if he doesn't have his favorite target.
Calvin Johnson out again Wednesday
Calvin Johnson sat out for the second straight day on Wednesday, according to mLive.com. Johnson is still dealing with a sore knee, and his status for the weekend is unknown.
Our View: Calvin owners should be concerned at this point, because he hasn't been able to go for two straight days. He has a great match-up against the Rams this week, so it would be even more devastating for owners if he can't go.

Calvin Johnson Still Not Practicing
Stafford Returns To Practice Tuesday
Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford returned to practice today while receiver Calvin Johnson did not participate. Stafford took snaps in the No. 1 rotation during individual drills.Stafford's status for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams won't be better known until Wednesday when team officials will see if there's any swelling in Stafford's knee. If there's swelling, Stafford will likely be out for Sunday's game. If there is no swelling, Stafford will continue to practice and a decision on whether he'll start will probably be made later in the week.During his reps today, Stafford had mobility, but didn't look totally comfortable or fluid.Stafford suffered a right knee subluxation in the game against the Chicago Bears four weeks ago. Stafford did not practice until he had limited duty on the Wednesday (Oct. 14) prior to the Green Bay Packers game. (Mlive.com)
FF Today's Take: While Stafford's healthy return to the lineup would be a plus, most fantasy leaguers are concerned about how quickly Johnson can be inserted into their lineups. Several outlets reported that Johnson did run on the side during the portion of practice the media was allowed to watch. For now, his owners may need to prepare for another week of Dennis Northcutt in a plus matchup vs. the Rams.

Johnson 'optimistic' he'll play
News: Lions WR Calvin Johnson continued to rest his knee in practice on Tuesday, only playing catch on the sidelines while watching his teammates work. But the Detroit Free Press reports that Johnson was "definitely optimistic" that he's play in Week 8 vs. the Rams but was "not positive." Johnson missed Week 6 with what was initially described as a knee sprain. "It feels a lot better since last week," said Johnson. "It's just something we have to take day by day and see how it goes, and as long as it goes according to schedule, we'll be able to make a decision off of that." [...]

Johnson may play Week 9
According to the Detroit News, there is a chance that injured wide receiver Calvin Johnson could play after the Lions Week 8 bye.
Our View: Quarterback Matt Stafford could also be ready to play in Week 9, but Coach Jim Schwartz isn't really coming out and saying anything definitive on either player. Sounds like this is just the most optimistic scenario for the Lions, and what the team is hoping will come to pass.
Coach Jim Schwartz said there is a possibility both Calvin Johnson

Lions Week 6 inactives
Lions inactives: WR Calvin Johnson, DL Dewayne White, DL Jason Hunter, OT Jon Jansen, FS Ko Simpson, OG Manuel Ramirez, QB Matthew Stafford, DL Sammie Hill.
Our View: An earlier report on NFL.com stated that Calvin Johnson is active, so it is best to hold him out to be safe. The Lions' pass rush will be weakened with defensive end White out. Stafford is fit to hold the clipboard as the No. 3 quarterback.

WR Johnson Leaves In 1st Quarter
Knee Injury
The Detroit Lions got hit hard by injuries in their 28-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, losing receiver Calvin Johnson to a knee injury in the first quarter. "We came into the game shorthanded and then got shorthanded early in the game with injuries," Lions coach Jim Schwartz said. "He hurt his knee. We'll see where it is. He couldn't go back in and finish. We tried to get a sleeve on it, we tried to get a brace on it and it was a situation where it was still possible -- if he could feel good with it -- we would've put him back in the game. We couldn't get him settled down and we couldn't get him comfortable."Johnson wasn't in a talkative mood after the game."We'll see what's going on tomorrow," Johnson said, adding that he expected to have some tests taken. (Mlive.com)
FF Today's Take: Dennis Northcutt picked up the slack catching 5 passes for 70 yards and 1 TD. It goes without saying, the Lions offense would take a severe blow if Megatron is out for any length of time.

Lions' receiver Calvin Johnson left Sunday's loss to the Steelers in the first quarter with a knee injury and was not able to return, according to mLive.com. Johnson is scheduled to undergo testing on Monday to find out the severity of the injury.
Our View: The team tried to do everything in their power to get Johnson back on the field yesterday, but the injury was bad enough that he couldn't return. Losing Calvin would be a major blow to the team, as he is the one powerful weapon they have on the offensive side of the ball. Stay tuned for an update on his injury later today.
Lions | C. Johnson to undergo tests on injured knee
Tom Kowalski, of Mlive.com, reports Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said WR Calvin Johnson (knee) suffered a knee injury during Week 5 and was not able to return to the game. "We'll see where it is. He couldn't go back in and finish. We tried to get a sleeve on it, we tried to get a brace on it and it was a situation where it was still possible -- if he could feel good with it -- we would've put him back in the game. We couldn't get him settled down and we couldn't get him comfortable," Schwartz said. Johnson said he will see how he feels Monday, Oct. 12, and said he anticipated undergoing some tests on his injured knee.

Lions May Exercise Caution With Stafford
May Elect To Turn To Culpepper For Two Pre-Bye Week Games
Even though the Detroit Lions list rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford as day-to-day because of his knee injury, you get the feeling the team will be cautious about his long-term welfare and sit him for a couple of weeks. Stafford's right kneecap popped out of the socket Sunday in a loss to the Chicago Bears. When he was in high school, he suffered a similar injury horsing around with friends. The injury is not believed to be serious, but there is no reason to risk further injury. With a bye week coming in two weeks, it might be safer for the Lions to use Daunte Culpepper and then bring Stafford back after the bye week. (ESPN.com)
FF Today's Take: John Clayton's assessment of the situation would make sense with the Lions still in full transitional mode. A move to Culpepper shouldn't affect the offense all that drastically or damage Calvin Johnson's stock all that much - if at all - as the two connected regularly last season. However, Week 4 was the first week that Stafford and Johnson seemed to be in synch, so it's a bit disconcerting they may be asked to put that connection on halt for the next three weeks.
Stafford likely to miss Week 5?
John Clayton of ESPN expects quarterback Matthew Stafford to be held out of Week 5 against Pittsburgh.
Our View: Stafford is day-to-day with a knee injury, but Clayton suggests that he will be held out as the Lions will be very cautious with their prized rookie. Daunte Culpepper would start in his absence, and still has a good enough arm to get the ball to stud receiver Calvin Johnson.

Johnson had season highs of eight receptions for 133 yards in Sunday's 48-24 loss to the Bears.
Impacts: Next week, Johnson, 10th in the NFL with 323 receiving yards, and the Lions will host the Steelers, who are 16th in the league in pass defense (218.3).
Calvin Johnson is day-to-day
Calvin Johnson is day-to-day after injuring his quad during Sunday's game at Chicago, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Status: Probable. Likely will play
According to the Associated Press, Calvin Johnson (hand, knee) is "doubtful" to play on Thanksgiving against Green Bay. The AP doesn't cite sources, but issued the report after coach Jim Schwartz's Monday presser. Schwartz "didn't sound optimistic" that Calvin would play on Thursday. Johnson wouldn't have practiced if the Lions held a workout Monday, which isn't an encouraging sign. Keep a close eye on Tuesday and Wednesday's practice reports. He'll likely be listed as questionable.
