David Elfin, of The Washington Times, reports Washington Redskins DE Phillip Daniels said he would obviously like to start but does not mind backing up DE Brian Orakpo at defensive end. \"I felt great when we were able to get Brian,\" Daniels said. \"I didn\'t think he would be there at 13, but he was the player I wanted us to draft. Of course, I want to start, but I\'ve played 13 years. My goal is to win a championship, and I think he can help us do that.\"

News: The Washington Redskins selected defensive end Brian Orakpo of Texas with the 13th pick in the NFL draft, another move to bolster their weak pass rush.The Redskins entered the offseason knowing they needed to upgrade their defensive front: They ranked last in the NFC in 2008 with only 24 sacks. So Washington began free agency by landing All-Pro defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth and now have Orakpo, a 6-foot-3, 263-pound rusher. He delivered 40 tackles (32 solo) with 17.5 stops for losses and 15 pressures in 12 games for the Longhorns last season. "We have him slated as a defensive end. He will eventually, if we fire zone or something like that, he will be in the secondary at some point, but right now he is coming in what we think is a pretty good pass rusher," head coach Jim Zorn said.
