The 39-year-old Favre routinely underthrew receivers and appeared to lose some velocity on his throws late in the season as the Jets went 1-4 down the stretch and failed to make the playoffs. Citing unnamed sources, the report adds that Favre would need arthroscopic surgery to repair the injury, but could also play without having an operation. After the Jets' season-ending 24-17 loss to Miami on Sunday, Favre said he's been feeling discomfort in his strong right arm "for quite a while." He also complained of pain in the back of the shoulder, the biceps and sometimes in his neck. John Crumpacker, of the San Francisco Chronicle, reports New York Jets WR Laveranues Coles sounded almost bitter during a conference call about having QB Brett Favre in New York. \"We\'re in a quarterback-driven offense where he pretty much has control of everything, where before the offense was pretty much driven through me. ... I just kind of become a role player instead of a guy that teams had to prepare for,\" Coles said regarding changes in the offense. Coles also said that \"there is no level of importance\" when they do throw the ball, \"where at one point it used to be I was the guy.\" Finally, he said Favre\'s arm is not even as strong as the Jugs machine and that \"most of the guys who deserve the credit\" for their turnaround aren\'t getting it.

Jets wideout Laveranues Coles doesn't seem to be a big fan of quarterback Brett Favre, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. According to the paper, Coles had plenty to say on the veteran QB, such as "I catch balls from the Jugs machine. The ball probably comes out harder from there than it does from anywhere else," and "Of course he's the big name, he's the Hall of Famer, he's going to get the majority of the credit but most of the guys who deserve the credit don't really get it."Coles is upset due to his lack of involvement in the offense, but he does have 55 catches for 615 yards and six scores. Coles has a pretty good matchup with San Francisco today, but based on these comments, we're not so sure Favre will be looking at Coles in his first read.
