It's not a week for him to be out there very much. It's a week to shut up and play. So what's going through his mind right now, on the verge of the strangest game of his career?

Booty visits Houston
John David Booty auditioned for the Texans Tuesday, according to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post.

Transcending the drama
...storyline of Sunday's Vikings-Packers game goes beyond Brett Favre. Posted by ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert I'm guessing you'll hear all about transcending this week as we focus our attention...

Favre was 34 of 51 for 334 yards against the Steelers on Sunday, but had a critical fourth-quarter fumble and an interception that led directly to Minnesota's 27-17 loss.
Impacts: Favre didn't throw a touchdown pass for the first time this season on Sunday, but it was his two turnovers that were of greater concern. This is the Favre many NFL fans have come to expect, the one who plays well for 50 minutes but often turns careless during crunch time against tough defenses.
Pack more confident heading into Favre rematch
Coming off back-to-back victories over two of the NFL's worst teams, the Green Bay Packers are carrying more confidence into Sunday's rematch with Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings.

Reuters - The Pittsburgh Steelers twice took advantage of fourth-quarter mistakes by quarterback Brett Favre to end the Minnesota Vikings' six-match unbeaten start to the NFL season on Sunday with a 27-17 victory.
Steelers rough up Favre
News: Vikings QB Brett Favre ran out of magic in Week 7, completing 34 of 51 passes for a nice 334 yards but no touchdowns with a fumble and an interception, both of which led directly to Steelers touchdowns. He continued to lean on WR Sidney Rice (11 catches, 136 yards) and also had four connections to Adrian Peterson for 60 yards. [...]
Favre passes for 354 yards
Brett Favre completed 34-of-51 passes for zero touchdowns against one interception in the Week 7 loss at Pittsburgh.
Our View: Favre, who also lost a fumble, had two turnovers on the day. Based on his overall numbers, Favre is a top-10 fantasy quarterback in all formats, but he has been somewhat inconsistent. The 19-year veteran has passed for multiple touchdowns in four games, and one or fewer scores three times. Up next, Favre should be skyhigh for a meeting against the Packers at legendary Lambeau Field.
Rice reels in 11 receptions
Sidney Rice caught 11 balls for 136 yards in the Week 7 loss at Pittsburgh.
Our View: In the last two games, Rice has compiled 17 receptions for 312 yards and he has scored in two of the last four contests. He has clearly gained Brett Favre's trust, while emerging into an every week starter regardless of format.

Brett Favre completed 34-of-51 passes for 334 yards but no touchdowns in the Vikings' Week 7 loss to the Steelers. Favre also had two crucial turnovers in the fourth quarter, as he fumbled once and threw an interception. [...]
Steelers' 2 defensive TDs beat Vikings 27-17
LaMarr Woodley returned Brett Favre's fumble 77 yards for a touchdown and Keyaron Fox ran back an interception 82 yards for another score during the closing minutes, and the Pittsburgh Steelers turned three major defensive stands into a 27-17 victory on Sunday to hand the Minnesota Vikings their first loss.
Rice working hard to improve
Through six weeks, Sidney Rice is having the best season of his three-year career, and it's being attributed to working harder at film-room study and in the weight room, according to Pro Football Weekly.
Our View: Thus far, Rice has posted 23 receptions for 409 yards and two touchdowns, and we're pretty sure Brett Favre has something to do with that success, as well.
NFL Pigskin Pigsplosion Preview: Week 7
I’m worried that we’re all waiting for a Brett Favre collapse that isn’t coming. If you look at the schedule, every single game is winnable. Our View: Favre is fitting in great with the Vikings, as he threw 12 touchdown passes and only two interceptions over the first six games of the season. He will try to lead the club to another win against the defending champs at Heinz Field next weekend.
Vikes move like hot knife through Baltimore butter

Favre threw for 232 yards, a touchdown and an interception a
Favre threw for 232 yards, a touchdown and an interception a day after his 40th birthday, leading the undefeated Minnesota Vikings to a 38-10 rout over the hapless Rams on Sunday.
Impacts: Showing no signs of a letdown just six days after an emotional win over Green Bay, his former team, Favre didn't put up big numbers and didn't have any last-second heroics. He was simply spry and efficient, dodging defenders and winging passes in every direction in his 274th straight regular-season start. Now Favre is 5-0 for the first time in his career, 1-0 as a 40-year-old. "I hope there's many more to come," Favre said.
Colts | Manning throws for 309 yards Week 5

Shiancoe scores again
Visanthe Shiancoe compiled four receptions for 49 yards and a touchdown in the Week 5 victory over St. Louis.
Our View: The end zone is become a familiar place for Shiancoe, who has scored in three of the last four weeks. The four receptions represent a season-high total, and it's clear that Brett Favre is developing chemistry with the seven-year veteran.

Ryan calls out Edwards
The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that Browns' defensive coordinator Rob Ryan called out Bills' quarterback Trent Edwards this week. After saying that Edwards is no Carson Palmer, Ryan continued by saying "He's not. Not too many quarterbacks are. The guy can run and do some things, but we've played Brett Favre, we've played Carson Palmer. Those are two pretty good quarterbacks right there. This guy [Edwards] always seems to have a lot to say."
Our View: Wow, big words coming from the defensive coordinator of an 0-4 team. Edwards can talk a bit, but nobody in the Browns' organization needs to be calling anyone else out. Ryan should think before he starts takin shots at anyone not on his own team.
Bills | Edwards called out
Mary Kay Cabot, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan was critical of Buffalo Bills QB Trent Edwards, saying Edwards is someone who does a lot of talking but does not back it up with his play. "I don't think that's (Cincinnati Bengals quarterback) Carson Palmer back there by any stretch," Ryan said. "He's not. Not too many quarterbacks are. Brett Favre was limited in practice on Thursday due to a foot injury.

Packers | Woodson questions defensive game plan
Greg A. Bedard, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers CB Charles Woodson questioned why the defense did not blitz more often in Week 4 in order to pressure Minnesota Vikings QB Brett Favre. The defense failed to register a sack or get much production on third down. "Well, I think we've got a lot of tools in our bag that we're not using," Woodson said.
