Brandon Tate is likely to start the 2009 campaign on the PUP list as he is recovering from October knee surgery on his ACL and MCL, according to the Boston Globe.
Our View: If healthy, Tate would not see much action in the Patriots' aerial attack while fighting for playing time behind Randy Moss, Wes Welker and Joey Galloway. His impact as a rookie should be limited to special teams as a return man.

Status: I.R.. Out for season
Patriots placed WR/KR Brandon Tate (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season. Tate was just activated from the PUP in Week 7, but clearly had a setback with his surgically repaired knee. Tate tore his ACL and MCL last October while playing for North Carolina. Sam Aiken now has the No. 3 receiver duties all to himself with Julian Edelman (arm) likely out and there has to be long-term concerns about Tate.
