News: Kyle Orton missed a third consecutive practice Friday because of a sprained left ankle and has only an outside chance of playing Sunday when the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers meet with first place in the AFC West on the line. Broncos backup Chris Simms again took first-team practice repetitions, as he has all week in the absence of Orton, and appears to be in line to start for the Broncos in Week 11. That's not good news for Marshall as Simms doesn't have a strong arm to hit Marshall deep downfield like Orton did last week. Not only might that impact Marshall's stats, but his history against the Chargers is also bleak -- he has only one touchdown and one 100-yard game in his last five against San Diego and that includes a 49-yard game in Week 6 against the Bolts. Our View: It looks like Marshall should be fine this week, and we were never really too worried about this injury. Fantasy owners should get him in the lineup, but it might not be a bad idea to check on him before kickoff just in case.

Misses Second Consecutive Practice
Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton was a no-show at practice for the second straight day.Orton has a sprained left ankle, and has one more chance to practice this week. The Broncos have a practice on Friday, which is their final practice before Sunday's game. McDaniels said he has no set rule on whether someone can play after not practicing."I came back last year as soon as I could and I'll do the same this year," Orton said.McDaniels said Chris Simms practiced well on Wednesday, and seemed to gain confidence as the session went on. FF Today's Take: Orton was referring to the right ankle sprain that he suffered as a Chicago Bear last season. It should be noted that his play after returning from the 2008 injury paled in comparison to his play pre-injury. The practice report on Simms is encouraging since the journeyman looked awful in relief of Orton in Week 10. Brandon Marshall owners should continue to keep a close eye on this situation.

Our View: Marshall had a great fantasy night for PPR owners, but getting in the end zone would have really solidified his performance. Aside from a 10-catch, 90-yard game against New England, Eddie Royal hasn't surpassed three catches or 20 yards in any other game. Royal, who caught 91 balls as a rookie last year, is on pace for 48 catches and 362 yards. For some perspective, last year tight end Daniel Graham - who is primarily a blocking tight end - had 389 yards receiving."I sit up here and say the same thing every week - the ball goes to the guy that is open, or at least that's what we're trying to do," HC Josh McDaniels said. "It's not always their fault, sometimes coverage dictates we go somewhere else. Like the San Diego game, (Tony) Scheffler has 100-some yards receiving, and that's because of the way they played us. We're not worried about that, we'll continue to try to get everyone better and involved in the offense and put them in a position to make plays, but we're not going to beat our head in the wall to try to do it."McDaniels said Royal's big game against New England showed that effect - the Patriots' coverage made Royal the best read in the offense, and he got the ball often. FF Today's Take: While the "throw it to the guy that's open" sentiment is nice, what McDaniels isn't saying is that Royal is being used to clear out his side of the field - usually by going deep - so Kyle Orton can throw the ball underneath to his RBs as well as Brandon Marshall and Jabar Gaffney. Since even the coaching staff seems to doubt Orton's ability to throw deep, Royal is often an afterthought. Royal's down season is more a product of the team's lack of confidence in Orton's arm than the WRs ability.

Brandon Marshall got into a "shouting-and-shoving" match with Knowshon Moreno after the rookie's goal-line fumble in the second quarter Sunday. Marshall got in Moreno's face and started berating him, at which point Moreno gave him a shove in the chest. Moreno had to be restrained from going after Marshall at one point, and Marshall later admitted that he may have "handled it wrong." Moreno's gaffe was certainly a momentum killer, though it could have easily been ruled a touchdown as opposed to a fumble.

Hey Brandon, I just want to say sorry for the season ending the way it did. I really like the Broncos and i think you are a good player.
