Marshall shows he can still factor
News: Broncos WR Brandon Marshall, who clashed with the coaching staff throughout the preseason and hadn't played much of a role in the first two games, led the team with five catches for 67 yards at Oakland in Week 3. He also caught a two-yard touchdown pass from QB Kyle Orton in the first quarter. [...]
Marshall scores
Brandon Marshall caught five passes for 67 yards and a touchdown in the Week 3 win over the Raiders.
Our View: Just think of what Marshall might produce when he learns the offense. The Broncos passing attack under Josh McDaniels remains a work in progress, but fantasy owners who've been holding Marshall have to feel good about this line.

Marshall back at practice Thursday
Broncos' wide receiver Brandon Marshall returned to full practice on Thursday after leaving Wednesday with an illness, according to the team's official website. Marshall will play in the team's Week 3 contest.
Our View: The illness wasn't anything serious, and Marshall was fine at practice today. His fantasy value has obviously been hurt by his troubled offseason, but the more he is on the field, the better chance he has to return to form this season.
Broncos | Marshall practices in full Thursday

Marshall wants to play more
News: Brandon Marshall insists he's comfortable with the Broncos playbook and that his surgically repaired hip is no longer an issue. However, the mercurial receiver doesn't know why he is not playing more -- Marshall spent most of the second quarter on the bench when the offense had the ball against Cleveland last weekend. He finished with three catches for 34 yards. He said Wednesday that he's good enough to be out there, and that he's learned from trying to fight the system after missing most of the team's offseason program while rehabbing from hip surgery and protesting his contract. Shanahan was never going to cut Marshall
Contrary to a previous report, the Denver Post is suggesting that former Broncos' head coach Mike Shanahan never intended on cutting troubled wide receiver Brandon Marshall. Marshall has struggled in two game this season after his eventful offseason.
Our View: It was ahrd to believe when the report came out that Shanahan was actually thinking about cutting Marshall, so this report makes more sense. This guy may have some problems, be he hadn't really done anything that would warrant getting cut during Shanahan's era. During Josh McDaniels's era, now that's a different story.

Marshall, Orton not on same page
News: The Denver Post reports Broncos WR Brandon Marshall, who missed much of the offseason as well as plenty of training camp for a variety of reasons, is not showing any chemistry with new QB Kyle Orton. The paper reports Marshall is "hesitant in his routes, not always where Orton expects him to be and gets pulled at times because other guys, most notably Jabar Gaffney and Brandon Stokley, are far more comfortable in what the Broncos are doing." Marshall sat out most of the second quarter Sunday against Cleveland, and he finished with just three catches for 34 yards and has only seven catches for 61 yards through two games. [...]

The reason that Marshall did not play in the second quarter
The reason that Marshall did not play in the second quarter of Sunday's game was due to the flow of the game, rather than an injury, the Denver Post reports. "All our guys are going to play. They know that. It's just the course of the game and some of the personnel groupings," coach Josh McDaniels said Monday. "We were rotating in and out, just the way it goes. Is Marshall still in doghouse?
News: Pressed on why Pro Bowl WR Brandon Marshall sat out most of the second quarter Sunday, Broncos coach Josh McDaniels didn't reveal much Monday. Marshall has another quiet day
Brandon Marshall caught only three balls for 34 yards in the Broncos win over the Browns on Sunday, according to the Denver Post.
Our View: He also sat out the entire second quarter (not believed to be injury or "doghouse" related), and committed a holding penalty. With only seven catches and 61 receiving yards through two games, it does not look like he will come anywhere near posting his third straight 100-reception, 1,200 yard campaign in 2009.
Brandon Marshall didn't play at all in the second quarter of
Brandon Marshall didn't play at all in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Browns. Marshall's bonehead holding penalty didn't occur until the fourth quarter, so we can't infer that his absence was doghouse related. [...]
Broncos | Marshall catches three passes Week 2
The Associated Press reports Denver Broncos WR Brandon Marshall spent much of the first half of the team’s Week 2 game in a baseball cap on the sideline. He returned to the field in the second half and finished with three catches for 34 yards and one carry for 14 rushing yards.
Marshall sits most of first half
News: Broncos WR Brandon Marshall was on the sideline in a baseball cap for much of the first half in Sunday's 27-6 win over the Browns. He returned to the field after halftime when Eddie Royal stayed inside until midway through the third quarter. No explanation was given for Royal's absence. Marshall finished with three catches for 34 yards and committed a crucial holding penalty that whittled a 41-yard catch-and-run by Buckhalter in the second half. Marshall also had one carry for 14 yards in the game. [...]

Brandon Marshall caught three passes for 34 yards and gained
Brandon Marshall caught three passes for 34 yards and gained 14 yards on one carry in Week 2 against the Browns. Marshall spent long stretches on the sidelines, was targeted on just four of the team's 37 passes, and picked up a holding penalty 15 yards away from the play on a big screen pass to Correll Buckhalter, so suffice it to say that he's in no danger of leaving the doghouse. Marshall phones in media session
Brandon Marshall apparently made a spectacle of himself at the Broncos' weekly media session on Thursday, according to the Denver Post.
Our View: Marshall "deflected, or flat-out ignored" most questions asked of him in a session that lasted just one minute and 40 seconds. He has made it well-known this year that he does not want to talk to the media, so today's display was probably solely so he would not get fined for not making himself available. He's a solid start this week at home against the Browns' run-of-the-mill pass defense.

Marshall hopes to speak with his play
News: Brandon Marshall broke his silence Thursday but didn't really say anything. The Denver Broncos' Pro Bowl receiver hovered outside the locker room until 12:04 p.m., then went to his locker to answer questions for less than two minutes in his first interview since his suspension last month. Marshall ignored questions about that suspension, his health and his state of mind and instead talked only about how he was preparing to face the Cleveland Browns this week. Marshall missed almost all of the team's offseason program while rehabbing from hip surgery, protesting his contract and the team's refusal to trade him and serving a suspension for insubordination. He did say he was feeling better. "Oh, I'm doing good," Marshall said. "I think I was 100 percent a long time ago. I'm just taking the time now just to prepare myself for each week. And this week is Cleveland." [...]

Brandon Marshall broke his silence today but didn't really say anything.
Marshall feeling fine
Despite some perceived concerns about his hip, Brandon Marshall says he was 100 percent a long time ago according to a tweet by Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post.
Our View: Marshall should be a fine play this weekend against the Browns. He showed some rust in Week 1 with a few drops, but a week of work with his new quarterback should bring about good things.
Marshall caught four passes for 27 yards as the Broncos beat
Marshall caught four passes for 27 yards as the Broncos beat the Bengals 12-7 in their season opener Sunday.
Impacts: Marshall, who ranked among league leaders with 104 catches and 1,265 receiving yards in 2008, got off to a slow start to 2009 after a tumultuous offseason. Last year's quarterback Jay Cutler demanded a trade and got it, while Marshall demanded one and stayed in Denver. While he may not have as good a season as he did last year, expect Marshall to perform better than he did in the opener, beginning next week against the Browns.

Marshall makes four catches
News: In the Broncos' Week 1 win at the Bengals, WR Brandon Marshall played far more than we expected, but still only caught four passes for 27 yards. He had a couple of dropped passes in the game, too. No catch was for more than 9 yards, but it's worth noting that Marshall was targeted nine times by QB Kyle Orton, including on his last pass of the game. [...]

Brandon Marshall caught four balls for 27 yards in the Broncos' Week 1 win. Marshall did start, despite multiple outlets claiming he didn't. News: Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall declined to comment Friday about his return from a team-imposed suspension, culminating his week of public silence on the matter. Marshall was reinstated Sunday after a nine-day suspension for conduct detrimental to the team. "I don't want to talk about what his mindset is. NFL: Marshall-Broncos Talk Turkey?

Broncos, Marshall Talking Extension
Both Sides Attempting To Steady Rocky Relationship
Despite their stormy relationship, the Denver Broncos are now exploring the possibility of giving a contract extension to wide receiver Brandon Marshall, two league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday. The potential new deal would put Marshall's salary more in line with some of the game's other highly-paid receivers. Due to the fact he has been unable to get a long-term deal, Marshall has been clinging to the hopes that Denver would deal him. But now, in a new approach, the deal Denver might make is not for Marshall, but rather with Marshall. The fact that they are even talking is an encouraging sign, sources said, and there is some optimism that a deal could be struck that could keep Marshall in Denver long term. (ESPN.com)
FF Today's Take: A contract extension may just save the marriage. Critics have been questioning Marshall's motivation all preseason and he's been sliding in most fantasy drafts, but money is what Marshall's been after and the Broncos' appear ready to deliver.

Brandon Marshall and the Broncos are reportedly discussing the possibility of inking him to a contract extension, according to ESPN.

"He is working back in and getting really familiar with what we're asking him to do. We will see how it goes," McDaniels said, while adding Marshall's attitude has been "great." In regards to Marshall's playing status in Week 1, McDaniels said: "I think he is a good football player. If he is ready to go and we go through this week of practice and feel like that's the direction we should play on Sunday, then certainly we all know what he can do as a football player. It is a matter of getting acclimated to enough of the game plan and him understanding what's going on, but we'll see as we go through the week." NFL: Denver Submits Trade Offer to Jets
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Broncos are asking for Jets ILB David Harris in any trade scenario involving Brandon Marshall. The Skinny: I can’t blame the Broncos for asking, but there’s no shot of them getting Harris for their head case. I’m sure the Jets would gladly give them a receiver to replace Marshall with and probably a third-round pick. Heck, they may even throw in one of their young cornerbacks (Dwight Lowery, Drew Coleman), but Harris is a foundation...

Favre will not play in the preseason finale on Friday night
Favre will not play in the preseason finale on Friday night against Dallas. Coach Brad Childress made the announcement Wednesday. He says he does not want to risk injury to Favre or any other starter, so everyone will rest against the Cowboys.
Impacts: Favre has only been with the Vikings for a little over two weeks. But Childress says he saw enough progress Monday night to make him feel comfortable sitting down the 39-year-old quarterback. Favre completed 13 of 18 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown in the 17-10 win at Houston. He played into the third quarter, so Childress will use Friday night to evaluate the other three quarterbacks: Sage Rosenfels, Tarvaris Jackson and John David Booty.

Jets Interested In Marshall?
Trade Rumor
The Jets are seriously exploring the possibility of trading for Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall, according to a league source familiar with the Jets' situation. Marshall, who was suspended Friday by the Broncos for conduct detrimental to the team, is one of the most talented but troubled receivers in the game. He has expressed a desire for a new contract through much of the offseason and preseason and also has asked to be traded.Although coach Rex Ryan repeatedly has said he is satisfied with his receivers, the Jets have taken a look at acquiring an established receiver. Jerricho Cotchery is the Jets' only proven veteran receiver. It is believed the Broncos would want a first-round draft pick in any deal for Marshall, but it is unlikely the Jets would pay that high a price. The Broncos have indicated that they have no plans to trade Marshall, 25, who was suspended for the team's final two preseason games after a series of run-ins with the team. (Newsday)
FF Today's Take: Marshall's saga has been well documented and despite what the say pubicly, the Broncos would be more than happy to rid themselves of this problem once and for all. There's still many obstacles in the way of such a trade to the Jets but should it occur it would have a negative impact on TE Dustin Keller and WR Jerricho Cotchery but boost the value Denver wide receiver Eddie Royal.

Jets eyeing Marshall?
Newsday reports that the New York Jets are "seriously exploring" trading for mercurial Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall.
Our View: Marshall is currently suspended for "conduct detrimental to the team" in Denver, while it has long been assumed the Jets would like an upgrade at receiver over Jerricho Cotchery and Chansi Stuckey. Marshall has surpassed both 100 receptions and 1,200 receiving yards the past two seasons, and would certainly represent the upgrade New York is looking for. Don't expect this to be the last Marshall rumor you hear in the coming days.

Status: Probable. Will play
Brandon Marshall (neck, probable) practiced in full again Friday. Marshall won't miss Week 11, but using him in fantasy leagues is a high-risk, if high-upside move. He'll either be playing with a QB that is hurt (Kyle Orton) or one that looked totally inept in the second half of Week 10 (Chris Simms). We'd take Marshall's upside and use him against San Diego.
