Brandon Marshall had his suspension reduced to one game on Thursday as Roger Goddell lowered what had possibly been a two to three game hiatus, according to the Rocky Mountain News. This is a great bounty for Marshall owners who will now be without him for only one game. Marshall has been arrested three times in the past year but the league determined that Marshall's explanation of those incidents, combined with his efforts off the field, were sufficient to lower his time on the sidelines.

Broncos WR Brandon Marshall was in New York on Tuesday to appeal
News: Broncos WR Brandon Marshall was in New York on Tuesday to appeal his three-game suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had indicated he would reduce Marshall's suspension to two games if he kept in contact with a league-appointed counselor and stayed out of further legal trouble. Marshall and his attorney, Harvey Steinberg, want a further reduction in that penalty. Earlier this month Goodell suspended Marshall over a series of off-the-field misdeeds, most notably his March 6 arrest on a domestic violence warrant filed by his former girlfriend in Atlanta. No charges have been filed in that case. Marshall caught 102 passes for 1,325 yards and seven touchdowns last season and has shown no falloff this summer despite suffering a gash on his right arm that required emergency surgery this spring and sidelined him for almost all of the team's offseason field work. Rookie Eddie Royal is expected to remain a starting wide receiver after Brandon Marshall returns from his suspension, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Brandon Stokley should also remain in the slot, so that means Darrell Jackson will serve as the No. 4 receiver.Royal has great speed and quickness and is very dangerous in the open field. He should provide a spark to the Broncos' aerial attack and serve as a solid complement to Marshall. Royal is worth targeting in the late rounds of fantasy drafts as a rookie sleeper.

News: No scribbled messages on his shoulder pads this time. No trash talk, either. Just Brandon Marshall letting his play do all the debating with a silenced Adam "Pacman" Jones. While embattled Denver receiver Brandon Marshall plans to
While embattled Denver receiver Brandon Marshall plans to appeal the three-game suspension recently handed down by the NFL due to legal misconduct during the offseason, he tells reporters he understands the errors of his way and he intends to get back on track, according to ProFootballTalk.com. “I’m just going to do everything I’m supposed to do, whether it’s off the field or on the field, and get past this,” Marshall said today in his first public comments since his suspension was announced.Fantasy owners can hope he holds true. He's saying all the right things, suggesting it is time to change and move forward with emphasis on the job at hand. The receiving picture in Denver is a mess and Marshall may be the only solid deep threat the team possesses. Missing him in the first three games (possibly only two if he follows a league request to seek therapy) will be a significant concern.
Denver WR Brandon Marshall, who was suspended for the first
News: Denver WR Brandon Marshall, who was suspended for the first three games of the regular season by commissioner Roger Goddell and is appealing, didn't have much to say on the matter on Wednesday. He let his coach do the talking for him. Marshall seems to have learned his lesson, coach Mike Shanahan said. "I just see him growing day by day, and he understands what it means to be a leader as an athlete, to be a leader in the community, help kids. He wants to do those type of things. He's a guy that's got a big upside not only on the field but off the field," Shanahan said. The penalty could be pared to two if Marshall undergoes counseling and meets other conditions, which the league didn't specify. Marshall didn't say whether he felt he needed the counseling. [...]

The Denver Broncos will start the season without wide receiver
News: The Denver Broncos will start the season without wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who was suspended by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for three games for violating the league's personal conduct policy. Marshall was summoned to Goodell's New York offices on July 18 to explain a series of off-the-field misdeeds over the past year, most notably his March 6 arrest on a domestic violence warrant filed by his former girlfriend in Atlanta. Marshall, who is due in court next month for a drunken driving trial, can have his suspension reduced to two games if he undergoes counseling and abides by other conditions, which the NFL did not specify. "There's no basis for discipline," Marshall's lawyer, Harvey Steinberg, argued during an interview with The Associated Press on Tuesday night. "Mr. Marshall has not been convicted nor charged with a crime." Marshall will appeal the suspension, Steinberg said while questioning whether that would be an act of futility: "I get to appeal to the guy who imposed the discipline," Steinberg said. [...]

The NFL has officially handed wide receiver Brandon Marshall

If Marshall seeks counseling and complies with other conditions, the suspension may be reduced to two games. The receiver won't be able to practice with the Broncos from September 2 until after Week 3.The official report matched the rumors that came out two days ago. The suspension will cause Marshall to fall in the fantasy rankings, but the bigger concern may be if you trust Brandon to clean up his act and not open himself up to further suspensions. The Broncos passing game may need to lean heavily on Darrell Jackson and Tony Scheffler in the early weeks.

Eddie Royal is listed as the number two wide receiver opposite
Eddie Royal is listed as the number two wide receiver opposite Brandon Marshall on the Broncos' first depth chart, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Coach Mike Shanahan said, "You have to put a depth chart out before the first exhibition game. I think we all know there are a number of positions that are very close, but you have to put someone down at first team and second team, even though you really don't know. It's that close."Royal is also listed as the number one kick and punt returner. Royal has great speed and has fared very well through the off-season, so it is not really surprising that he is listed ahead of Darrell Jackson, Brandon Stokley, and Keary Colbert on the first depth chart at receiver. He could make some noise as a rookie, but won't likely be consistent enough to count on if he nails down the starting job in Denver.

Schefter also stated that the suspension could be reduced to two games if Marshall agrees to attend counseling. Our advice is to avoid drafting Steve Smith and Marshall this season, that is unless you want to lose Weeks 1 and 2.
