Bob Sanders sits out
Bob Sanders sat out Thursday's practice, according to the Colts' official website.
Our View: Sanders is just resting his surgically-repaired knee, and is expected to play in Sunday's home game against the 49ers. His workload in the Colts' secondary will increase as he feels more comfortable. He only notched one tackle in his season debut last week at St. Louis.

Sanders expected to start vs Rams
The National Football Post reports that Pro Bowl safety Bob Sanders is expected to play in Week 7 against St. Louis.
Our View: There is no guarantee from the Colts that Sanders will play, but all signs point to him getting on the field for the first time this season against the bottom feeding Rams. He'll take part in the majority of this week's practices and will likely be reevaluated after. This spells trouble for an already troubled St. Louis offense and creates a banner week to play the Colts defense in fantasy leagues.

Sanders may finally play
Out all season as he recovers from offseason knee surgery, Bob Sanders could make his season debut on Sunday in St. Louis, according to the Indianapolis Star.
Our View: Obviously, the Rams and their anemic passing attack would be a great team to get your feet wet against. When he does finally come back, the league's current number two scoring defense will be getting one of the league's best safeties in the equivalent of a blockbuster midseason trade.

Sanders extended in practice
The National Football Post reports safety Bob Sanders was limited in Wednesday's practice, but had his most extensive workout of the season.
Our View: Sanders has been held out of practice until this week after having offseason surgery on his right knee. Coach Caldwell stated, "He is hungry, there's no question about that. I think he's been preparing diligently. He looks like Bob, so we're all anxious. When he gets comfortable with what he's doing, we'll get him in there." Sounds like he may be ready after this week's bye, which would be a huge boost for the Colts defense.

Sanders may play in Week 5
According to the Indianapolis Star, Bob Sanders practiced for the third time this week on Friday and may play in Sunday's game against the Titans.
Our View: Sanders is officially listed as doubtful on the Colts injury reports, but he has not ruled himself out of returning to action. The defensive stalwart had this to say, "Not sure yet. We haven't made a decision on that. If you hear anything, you'll hear it from coach Caldwell." No one seems certain, including Coach Caldwell, but if Sanders does manage to play it would be a huge boost for the Colts. Expect him to be a game-time decision.

Colts' DB Sanders Practicing
But His Return Is Uncertain
Bob Sanders has returned to practice for the first time since undergoing offseason surgery on his right knee, but it's still uncertain when the Indianapolis Colts veteran safety will be ready for a game. Coach Jim Caldwell said Sanders participated in the team's light workout Monday, has steadily "ramped up" his rehabilitation regimen and anticipates Sanders practicing in a limited capacity this afternoon. The NFL's 2007 Defensive Player of the Year has been inactive for the first four games of the season. Asked if there was a chance Sanders could be available for Sunday night's game in Nashville against the Tennessee Titans, Caldwell replied, "At this point, I would not be able to tell you that in earnest." However, starting middle linebacker Gary Brackett is expected to play after missing the past two games with a knee injury. "He's back practicing and we feel good about where he is," Caldwell said of the team's defensive captain. Sanders declined to talk with the media in the locker room before this afternoon's practice. (The Indianapolis Star)
FF Today's Take: The Colts' defense has performed just fine without Sanders thus far, cruising to a 4-0-0 record while allowing an average of just 15.5 points per game. But let's face it, they've been carried by a dominant offense, and defensively haven't really been tested on the ground this year - an area they've struggled with in the past. When healthy (rarely), Sanders has been a solid contributor preventing long gains from RBs breaking into the secondary, and the Colts may be more inclined to rush him back into the lineup if the Chris Johnson (RB, DB, DB)-Lendale White tandem have their way with the Colts this Sunday.

Sanders makes an appearence
Bob Sanders (knee) briefly participated in a Colts workout on Monday, according to the Indianapolis Star.
Our View: There is still no timetable for the perpetually hurt Sanders' return, however. Unlike recent years when he's been out, the Colts defense has not wilted, though. They are currently eighth in the NFL in passing yards allowed - scary, considering how much better their pass defense figures to be when he finally returns.

Status: I.R.. Out for season
Colts president Bill Polian said that Bob Sanders (injured reserve, biceps) will be back next season as long as Sanders' recovery goes well. Polian called all of Sanders' injuries bad luck and said the strong safety was playing at an elite level before going down. Still, considering how well the Colts' secondary has played without Sanders and his monster contract that runs through 2012, don't be surprised if they shop or eventually cut him.
