The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that defensive coordinator Bob Sanders and Winston Moss, who coaches linebackers, have decided not to use a rotation in order to evaluate Brady Poppinga and his main competition, free-agent pickup Brandon Chillar. Poppinga has been working with the first team.The team will likely use Chillar in pass coverage, an area Poppinga struggled with last season. Whichever player wins the starting job, the Packers believe their depth is far better at the linebacker position than it was last year, when there wasnÂ’t an experienced NFL linebacker behind the three starters. Chillar gives the Packers versatility because he played all three linebacker positions during his four years in St. Louis.

Colts president Bill Polian said that Bob Sanders (injured reserve, biceps) will be back next season as long as Sanders' recovery goes well. Polian called all of Sanders' injuries bad luck and said the strong safety was playing at an elite level before going down. Still, considering how well the Colts' secondary has played without Sanders and his monster contract that runs through 2012, don't be surprised if they shop or eventually cut him.
