Roethlisberger enjoyed a warm reception from Pittsburgh Steelers
Roethlisberger enjoyed a warm reception from Pittsburgh Steelers fans in his first public appearance since being named in a civil lawsuit by a woman who alleges he sexually assaulted her. Filming the first episode of Shaquille O'Neal's reality TV show Friday, Roethlisberger kept things lighthearted and didn't discuss the allegations.
Impacts: The two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback appeared loose and playful at a suburban Pittsburgh high school field Friday night in front of an estimated 5,000 that never showed signs of turning on him after the accusations against him that came out earlier this week. It was a contrast to Roethlisberger's demeanor at a brief press conference at the Steelers' practice facility on Thursday when Big Ben read a minute-long statement denying the charges.

Ben Roethlisberger held a brief press conference today to address the recent allegations brought against him, according to the AP. He did not take questions, but simply read a prepared statement. Obviously, he denied the charges. "I would never, ever force myself on a woman," he said.
Our View: The lawsuit was filed in a civil court, meaning there will be no criminal investigation against him. Apparently the "victim" just wants money for his alleged activity, not jail/prison time. The court proceedings could have a negative effect on Big Ben as he prepares himself for the upcoming season.

League looking into Big Ben's case
According to NFL.com, Commissioner Roger Goodell is looking into the Ben Roethlisberger situation.
Our View: According to the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy the league can suspend Big Ben for the alleged rape incident, but it's not common when dealing with civil cases (like Roethlisberger's). However, if he is found guilty the league would likely be more apt to take action. A suspension would surely hurt the quarterback's status on draft day. Stay tuned.
