Harrison no longer on Colts' radar
The Colts' decision not to bring back wide receiver Marvin Harrison to replace injured Anthony Gonzalez is a clear sign the organization has moved on from their future Hall of Fame receiver. The Colts will get a medical update on Gonzalez' knee injury Monday night. Dallas Clark has big night for Colts
Dallas Clark had a big night in Monday's 27-23 win at Miami, as he hauled in seven receptions for 183 yards and a touchdown. His touchdown covered 80 yards on a strike from Peyton Manning.

Colts Week 2 inactives
Colts Week 2 inactives: WR Anthony Gonzalez, SS Bob Sanders, QB Curtis Painter, C Jamey Richard, SS Jamie Silva, CB Jerraud Powers, DL Keyunta Dawson, TE Tom Santi.
Our View: Starting receiver Anthony Gonzalez is the biggest loss, along with head-hunting strong safety Bob Sanders and defensive tackle Keyunta Dawson. The Dolphins' offense could benefit with two defensive starters out.

Garcon gets the start
According to the Indy Football Report, wide receiver Pierre Garcon is expected to start on Monday night against the Dolphins.
Our View: With number-two receiver Anthony Gonzalez out up to eight weeks with a knee injury, Garcon is being called upon to pick up the slack. He'll get outside duties and Austin Collie will work in the slot. This is the second-year man's first career start and while he's not a great fantasy play, he'll get some looks on Monday and can be useful if you're light at receiver.

Gonzalez could miss up to 8 weeks
News: Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez could miss up to eight weeks with sprained ligaments in his right knee. Coach Jim Caldwell said Thursday that Gonzalez could miss two to eight weeks. He would not confirm that the team has signed veteran receiver Hank Baskett. Three-time MVP Peyton Manning, however, told reporters that the Colts wanted to get Baskett up to speed as soon as possible going into Monday's game against Miami. Gonzalez is definitely out for Week 2's game. [...]
Baskett Getting On Same Page As Manning
Former Eagles WR Signs One Year Deal With Colts
A hectic Thursday began with Hank Baskett arriving in Indianapolis early in the morning and signing a one-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts. It ended with the team's newest receiver spending extra time on the practice field with quarterback Peyton Manning. "It's definitely going to be a crash course," Baskett said. "I've got a lot of catching up to do." It remains to be seen if he's able to digest enough of the playbook to contribute in Monday night's game with the Miami Dolphins at Land Shark Stadium. The Colts signed Baskett, 27, to help fill the void created when Anthony Gonzalez sprained the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Sunday's win over Jacksonville. Gonzalez could miss at least the next four games but hopes to return for the Oct. 25 game at St. Louis. While he's out, Pierre Garcon and rookie Austin Collie likely will share the No. 2 spot alongside Reggie Wayne. Baskett will chip in when he's up to speed. (The Indianapolis Star)
FF Today's Take: Garcon and Collie have just 9 receptions between them at the NFL level, and the veteran Baskett has an outside shot at becoming the number two man in Gonzalez's absence.
Colts | Gonzalez injury update
Mike Chappell, of the Indianapolis Star, reports Indianapolis Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (knee) hopes to return for the team’s Oct. 25 game versus the St. Louis Rams.

Adding Baskett would give the Colts four healthy receivers on the active roster - Pro Bowler Reggie Wayne, second-year pro Pierre Garcon and rookie Austin Collie. Gonzalez hurt his right knee during Sunday's 14-12 victory over Jacksonville. The Indianapolis Star, however, reports Gonzalez will not require surgery and could return after the team's bye week Oct. 18, which would mean he would miss four games. [...]

Gonzalez could miss eight weeks
Updating a previous report, Colts wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez could miss up to eight games this season with a knee injury, according to the Associated Press.
Our View: No word on why he was bumped up from only missing four weeks, but something is afoot. Gonzalez has sprained ligaments in his right knee, but the Colts likely knew that already so it's a mystery why his injury time doubled.

Colts receiver Anthony Gonzalez could miss up to eight weeks with sprained ligaments in his right knee.
Gonzalez to miss a month
The Indianapolis Star reports that Anthony Gonzalez will not require surgery on his injured knee and looks to only miss four games.
Our View: Gonzalez will get an extra week of rest with the Colts bye in Week 6, so he should be ready to return Week 7 against the Rams. Assuming there are no setbacks in his recovery, that will be a great week to play him, as the Rams secondary leaves much to be desired.
Gonzalez will not require surgery to repair a sprained PCL ligament
Gonzalez will not require surgery to repair a sprained PCL ligament in his right knee and could return to action after the Colts' bye week in mid-October, the Indianapolis Star reports. [...]

So where's Marvin Harrison?
With the Colts needing a receiver due to the injury to Anthony Gonzalez and signing a guy in Hank Baskett who has generated fewer receiving yards in his entire career than Marvin Harrison racked up in eight different NFL seasons,...
Baskett headed to Indy
The National Football Post reports that former Eagles receiver Hank Baskett has agreed to terms with the Colts. Details of the agreement were not disclosed.
Our View: The Colts were hurting for a receiver with the offseason departure of staple Marvin Harrison and the Week 1 knee injury suffered by Anthony Gonzalez. They worked out three other receivers initially, but once Baskett cleared waivers Indy snatched him up. For his career the wideout has 72 catches good for 1,052 yards and six scores.
Colts looking at Patten
With Anthony Gonzalez out with a knee injury, Pro Football Talk reports that the Colts have interest in free agent wide receiver David Patten.
Our View: Patten, age 35, caught 11 balls for the Saints in five games last season. Even with Peyton Manning under center, he'll still be miles away from fantasy relevancy if this deal takes place.
Hackett on Colts' radar?
D.J. Hackett is reportedly on the Colts' radar as they look for a replacement for the injured Anthony Gonzalez (sprained knee), according to Adam Schefter's (ESPN) twitter page.
Our View: Hackett auditioned for the team today. He has the physical tools to make an impact, but has failed to stay healthy so far in his career.
Manning to look to Clark even more?
The Indianapolis Star reports that with wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez out several weeks with injury, Dallas Clark will play an ever larger role in the Colts' passing attack.
Our View: With Reggie Wayne catching ten balls on Sunday, he can't be thrown to any more than he already is. Clark could be used out of the slot as a "hybrid receiver," and will certainly average more receptions than the four he had on Sunday. In 2008, he was one of the premier fantasy tight ends in the game, reeling in 77 balls for 848 yards and six touchdowns, and this only makes him more valuable.

Colts | Will likely sign veteran WR, not Harrison
Mike Chappell, of the Indianapolis Star, reports Indianapolis Colts president Bill Polian said the team would likely sign a veteran wide receiver to fill in for WR Anthony Gonzalez (knee), who is expected to miss up to six weeks with a knee injury. The Colts will not re-sign free-agent WR Marvin Harrison. Polian said, “It really is counterproductive to try to bring a player in who has not had any training camp, not had any offseason. That's especially true of someone at Marvin's age. It's very, very difficult to do and you're probably inviting injury upon injury.â€

Mike Chappell, of the Indianapolis Star, reports Indianapolis Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez (knee) will not miss the rest of the 2009 season due to a knee injury he suffered Week 1. Team president Bill Polian said on his radio show that “there is some sprained ligaments and we know that it isn't year-ending. The fact that it's not season-ending is a good thing.â€

Gonzalez could be out longer?
Chris Mortensen of ESPN tweeted that the Colts are expecting an extended absence for Anthony Gonzalez after suffering a knee injury in Week 1 against the Jaguars.
Our View: The third-year receiver is meeting with doctors tonight. Pierre Garcon or Austin Collie will inherit the No. 2 role at receiver as Reggie Wayne's wingman while Gonzalez is on the shelf.
Wade bound for Kansas City
Bobby Wade is expected to ink a deal with the Chiefs, according to Chris Mortensen's (ESPN) twitter page.
Our View: The Colts also had interest in Wade, and lost Anthony Gonzalez for 2-6 weeks with a knee injury. Wade could etch out a role as a possession receiver as the Chiefs are thin at the position, but is not worth targeting in fantasy leagues as of now.

Colts WR Gonzalez Injures Knee
Could Be Out 2-6 Weeks
Split wide right against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Anthony Gonzalez took a few steps inside to block, then crumpled to the turf. The Indianapolis Colts' veteran receiver -- and Wayne's running mate in the starting lineup -- needed help to get off the field. Gonzalez was out, without being touched, with an injury to his right knee. The Colts did not elaborate on Gonzalez's injury after their 14-12 win or offer how long he might be out. However, a source close to Gonzalez said he sprained a knee ligament and could miss two to six weeks."I sure hope it's not a season-ending injury," quarterback Peyton Manning said. "I hope he's back soon. He's a huge part of our offense." (Indianapolis Star Tribune)
FF Today's Take: We should know more about the extent of Gonzalez's injury in the coming days but expect to see more of Pierre Garcon in the coming weeks for the Colts. Reggie Wayne was targeted heavily yesterday (14) in Gonzalez's absence.

Our View: We're still hoping for more details, but fantasy owners now know that they have to plan to be without the Colts' No. 2 man. The Colts have a Week 6 bye, and they may plan to bring Gonzalez back after that point. Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie will need to step up unless the Colts turn to the free agent market.

Status: Out. Out indefinitely
NFL.com's Jason La Canfora reports that Anthony Gonzalez has a "chance" to return in Week 12 against the Texans. La Canfora confirms the obvious -- that Gonzo won't play Sunday against the Ravens -- but says he is "expected" to resume practicing next week. Gonzalez would be just three weeks removed from knee surgery in Week 12, so the Colts definitely wouldn't immediately reinsert him into the starting lineup. We'd bet heavily against him helping anyone in the fantasy playoffs as well.
