Manning has confidence in Colts

Source (fanball.com) (WR - ind) | 0 comments.

Peyton Manning still has confidence in the Colts following the departure of long-time teammate Marvin Harrison and head coach Tony Dungy, according to NBC Sports. Manning said, "Even though Tony Dungy will not be on the sideline, I feel like the winning atmosphere and the environment he created in our building will carry through. Coach Caldwell assured me he has got a good plan. Hopefully August 2 we will be able to hit the ground running."

Our View: Anthony Gonzalez may lack the skills of future Hall of Famer Harrison (in his prime), but should still carry his weight as Reggie Wayne's wingman as the new No. 2 receiver. Manning should remain among the top fantasy quarterbacks in 2009.

Status: Out. Out indefinitely
NFL.com's Jason La Canfora reports that Anthony Gonzalez has a "chance" to return in Week 12 against the Texans. La Canfora confirms the obvious -- that Gonzo won't play Sunday against the Ravens -- but says he is "expected" to resume practicing next week. Gonzalez would be just three weeks removed from knee surgery in Week 12, so the Colts definitely wouldn't immediately reinsert him into the starting lineup. We'd bet heavily against him helping anyone in the fantasy playoffs as well.
