The Baltimore Ravens have signed tight end Tony Curtis to a deal, according to the Twitter page of beat writer Mike Duffy. Curtis was formerly with the Eagles this season.

Our View: Curtis was cut by the Eagles to make room for Alex Smith, and this is an interesting move considering L.J. Smith is close to returning. Smith may be farther away from coming back than originally thought, which would better explain this move.

Our View: Curtis was thought to have a good chance of remaining on the team all season, but apparently the Eagles like Smith more. Curtis should have a chance to catch on with someone else, but he won't make any kind of fantasy splash this season.

Our View: Glazer points out that Smith was a solid tight end prospect just two years ago, and he wonders why Smith has fallen so fast. He doesn't look to have much immediate fantasy impact with the Eagles, but he could be a player to watch if something happens to Brent Celek.

According to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, 49ers' quarterback Nate Davis will play at least three quarters in the team's final preseason game. With Alex Smith out with a thumb injury, Davis is expected to take over for stater Shaun Hill after the first quarter.

Our View: Davis has been very impressive in his first preseason as a pro, and a very good performance in this game could force the coaches to consider him as the backup ahead of Smith. The most likely scenario is that Davis ends up as the third-stringer, but he may have more potential than any other quarterback on the roster.
