Rob Demovsky and Pete Dougherty, of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, report the Green Bay Packers appear to be bracing for QB Brett Favre to return to their roster - at least for the short term. Since the team has ruled out releasing Favre and they do not appear close to working out a trade, there is a strong possibility he will end up on their 80-man roster. Such a situation would increase the bitterness of the ongoing rift between he and general manager Ted Thompson. Head coach Mike McCarthy hasn't talked with Favre, but will once he is reinstated. He will then work on a preliminary plan for Favre's return to practice. If he eventually takes the field with the team during practice, the team will need to determine his role in workouts because they have made it clear QB Aaron Rodgers is their starter. Since Favre missed the start of camp, he could be limited to individual or small-group drills for the first day or two.
