Yao was not included on the Chinese national team roster for the Asian Men's Basketball Championships Aug. 6 to 16 in China, and he said Saturday that he will not play this summer, though the rehabilitation from his hairline fracture in his left foot is expected to require just 7-to-11 more weeks. Status: Sidelined. Out for 2009-10 season
The Houston Rockets have extended the contract of GM Daryl Morey through the 2012-2013 season. The Rockets have retooled and remained competetive under Morey's direction but may face serious challenge this season with Yao Ming out and Tracy McGrady coming off of microfracture surgery.
