The New Orleans Hornets say center Tyson Chandler and forward

Source (CBSSports.com) (C - no) | 0 comments.

News: The New Orleans Hornets say center Tyson Chandler and forward James Posey both had successful surgeries for their injuries. Team spokesman Dennis Rogers said late Tuesday that Chandler had a procedure on his left ankle to relieve inflammation and another on his left toe. Posey's surgery was on his right knee. Chandler, who averaged 8.8 points, missed 29 games in the regular season and the last playoff game because of the ankle injury. His trade to Oklahoma City this year was rescinded because of concerns over the toe. Posey, who averaged almost nine points as a reserve, hurt his knee in Game 3 of the first round of the playoffs against Denver but played through it. Both are expected at training camp in October. Status: Sidelined. Day-to-day
Contrary to earlier reports, Tyson Chandler (back) is now likely to be out for Friday night's game against the Milwaukee Bucks after missing Friday morning's shootaround. When in doubt, Chandler's out. If you need a center, grab Nazr Mohammad. Beware, though, of the Bucks going small while Andrew Bogut is out and the Bobcats responding in kind.

Michael Jim on Jul 30 2009 says:
To the surprise of the Bulls organization, Chandler did not meet their expectations. After the 2006 season he was traded to the New Orleans Hornets, a team that was looking to upgrade its defense. Without a doubt, Chandler had his best year during his first season with the New Orleans Hornets. Not only did he manage to score just shy of ten point per game, but he also contributed down low, grabbing over twelve rebounds per game. He did not fail to put up a repeat performance during the next year, as he finished the 2007-2008 season as the league leader in offensive rebounds. He would eventually go on to win a gold medal with Team USA during the 2007 Olympics. Today, the New Orleans Hornets consider Tyson Chandler an integral component of their team.
