The Dallas Mavericks have signed free agent forward Tim Thomas. The 6-foot-10 Thomas, a 12-year veteran, played for the Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks and Chicago last season. He averaged 8.5 points and 3.1 rebounds in his 64 games, 36 with the Knicks, 18 with the Bulls and 10 with the Clippers.

Our View: Terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but Thomas' agent expects him to sign with the Texas team. The Mavs would be Thomas' eighth team. In reserve roles for both the Knicks and Bulls in 2008-09, he averaged 8.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Bulls have bought out the contract of forward Tim Thomas. The move allowed the team to sign Lindsay Hunter and Janerro Pargo.

Our View: Thanks to this move, the Bulls were able to sign Pargo and Hunter and they should still have enough cap space to sign a big man to a minimum contract this summer. Thomas didn't do much for the Bulls down the stretch last season, so this isn't a big shocker. He will have very little fantasy value wherever he ends up next season.
