The Detroit Pistons have fired coach Michael Curry after just one season, according to ESPN.

Our View: The Pistons made the playoffs last season, but went just 39-43 in the regular season and were unceremoniously swept by LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round. It was also rumored that many Pistons veterans, especially Rip Hamilton, did not get along with Curry. No word yet on any potential replacements.

The Cavaliers are expected to target unrestricted free agent Charlie Villanueva, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: Cleveland has their mid-level exception, expected to be around $5.6 million to $5.8 million, to offer Villanueva for the the first year of any potential contract. That's less than many other teams could give him, but he has expressed an interest in joining the Cavs numerous times in the previous weeks on his Twitter account, and would seem likely to take less money to play with LeBron James and company.

The New York Daily News reports cites internet reports that claim coach Mike Brown may not be back next season with the Cavaliers. Brown and the Cavs were heavy favorites to beat the Magic in the Eastern Conference Finals but lost in six games.

Our View: Brown won coach of the year this past season after winning 66 games with LeBron James in the Cavaliers. However, he was outcoached by Stan Van Gundy in the Cavs' last series. For now, the reports should be treated as rumors alone. If there were an opening for the job, seemingly any coach would want to coach LeBron.
