Nuggets still think they're best in West
The Denver Nuggets are torn between what-ifs and what-a-year. Deep down, they still think they're the best team in the West and maybe even in the NBA altogether. They won't get a chance to prove it, however, after losing the conference finals in six games to Kobe Bryant and the steely Los Angeles Lakers.
Lakers rest, await finals opponent
Kobe Bryant stared straight ahead, delivering his answer without emotion. His teammates were out of earshot, though Bryant undoubtedly told them the same thing. Asked what it would take to close out Denver in six games, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar replied, "Be cold-blooded, go out there and execute.

News: The Houston Chronicle reports Lakers guard Kobe Bryant could face a suspension for throwing an elbow at Houston forward Ron Artest during Game 2 of their playoff series in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Artest was ejected for arguing the play. Rockets GM Daryl Morey will likely contact the league to ask for Bryant to be disciplined. Morey will likely bring up the Game 1 elbow and knee the Rockets believe Bryant delivered to Shane Battier. The Rockets can say the elbow Bryant delivered was part of a pattern. If Bryant's elbow is considered the result of trying to get free from a tight defense, then the NBA could rule it to be nothing more than a part of basketball.
