News: According to The Sports Xchange, At least second-year guard Javaris Crittenton knows where he stands now, and it's not in the Grizzlies' dressing room.Crittenton was traded Wednesday to the Washington Wizards as part of a three-team deal. The transaction between Memphis, Washington and New Orleans allowed the Grizzlies to reclaim the conditional first-round pick they sent the Wizards in 2007 for the right to sign Spanish guard Juan Carlos Navarro. As part of this trade, the Grizzlies also sent a future second-round pick (2015) to New Orleans, who received guard Antonio Daniels from the Wizards in exchange for Hornets guard Mike James. Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace said the team had been committed to moving Crittenton since the offseason. Crittenton immediately fell behind rookie O.J. Mayo. "Once we drafted O.J., there wasn't a role for Javaris," Wallace said. "We have complete flexibility, if needed, for future deals." The Grizzlies don't have to pay the remainder of Crittenton's $1.38 million salary this season. They won't have to pay the $1.47 million Crittenton is owed for the 2009-10 campaign. Memphis now owns all of its future first-round draft picks in reclaiming the pick used to acquire Navarro. Crittenton had grown impatient with the lack of playing time. He was the only player not to see action last Saturday during the Grizzlies' blowout loss at New Orleans. After the game, Crittenton openly complained in the locker room about the situation. The Grizzlies' roster is now at the league minimum 13 players, and it is more likely now that the team will guarantee veteran Quinton Ross' contract for the rest of the season. A decision on Ross is due by Dec. 15. Crittenton was the 19th overall selection in the 2007 draft. He averaged 2.7 points on 47-percent shooting in 6.3 minutes in seven appearances this season. Status: Sidelined. Out at least one month
Javaris Crittenton may have the boot on his left foot removed next week, at which point he might start running. Crittenton had exploratory surgery two weeks ago and is expected to rehab for another four weeks. The Wizards didn't extend his contract and he doesn't figure to be a large part of their plans this season, either.
