Update: Maxiell agreed to a four-year $20 million contract extension with the Pistons on Thursday, according to the Associated Press.
Analysis: The deal is yet to be signed, but that appears to be imminent. Last season, he posted eight points, five boards and one black per contest. He would have been a free agent at the end of the season had he not opted to re-up with Detroit.

The AP reports that the Pistons have offered Jason Maxiell a $20 million, four-year contract, but he is expected to leave the deal on the table before Friday's deadline to test the market as a free agent next summer.Maxiell played 19 minutes in the season opener and is in the front court rotation with Rasheed Wallace, Amir Johnson, and Antonio McDyess. His lack of minutes will prohibit him from making a fantasy impact this season.
