Our View: Nelson badly wants to play in this series, but it sounds like the Magic are going to play it safe. The team doesn't want to risk injuring the shoulder more seriously, so it is likely Nelson won't see the floor. There is still a slight chance that he could return later in the series, but right now it looks like he will remain on the sidelines.

Our View: Nelson's teammates were impressed by his work at practice, and it is starting to look very possible that he plays in this series. Even if he can't go in Game 1 on Thursday, it is still very possible he could be ready at some point in this series.

News: Orlando is evaluating All-Star point guard Jameer Nelson for a possible return to the Magic lineup for the NBA finals that begin Thursday night in Los Angeles. Magic spokesman Joel Glass said on Sunday that Nelson's rehabilitation from a shoulder injury is ahead of schedule but that his status remains uncertain. Nelson has been out since early February with what had been called a season-ending shoulder tear. Status: Sidelined. Targeting late-December return
Jameer Nelson is supposed to miss anywhere from four to six weeks after having knee surgery, but his teammates are saying the he might only miss three weeks. If they're correct, it's possbible that Nelson could play as soon as Dec. 2 against the Knicks, Our feeling is that is a very optimistic outlook on Nelson's return, and that mid- to late-December sounds more likely.
