Anthony shot just 4-for-17 in Monday's 109-91 loss to Atlanta after missing three of the previous four games with a sore elbow. He fared better against Toronto, shooting 8-for-20. As the elbow continues to heal, Anthony should me more and more productive. Expect an outstanding 2009 for the former NCAA national champion at Syracuse.

Analysis: The Suns' head coach Terry Porter gave a lot of props to Grant Hill's defense but we think this had more to do with Anthony's ailing elbow than a guy who's had upteen ankle surgeries. The more disappointing issue is that Anthony didn't make up for the poor shooting night anywhere else, grabbing just one rebound and dishing out just one assist with four turnovers. If we owned Anthony we'd be keeping some serious tabs on him because it's starting to feel more and more like he may have to miss some time to get his elbow right.

Update: Anthony said his right elbow continues to bother him and that it was "hard" to shoot free throws during Wednesday night's 45 point outburst, the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: Anthony insists he won't take any time off to let the injury heal but we remain skeptical that he can continue to take a beating and not suffer ill effects from it. "As long as I keep hitting and bumping it I don't really think it can get any better," Anthony said. "When I dove on the floor, I hit it on the floor. I came down and hit my elbow trying to run through a screen. Things like that, I don't really think it can progress. The only thing I can do is keep getting treatment and hope it gets better." The club just had four days off and the elbow didn't seem to respond to treatment so we're thinking this could eventually blow up into a week to two-week shut down. If we owned him we'd be shopping him like crazy, especially with that huge Wednesday outburst still fresh in people's minds.

Analysis: "It's still the same," said Anthony when asked about the pain in his elbow. "I don't really think that's something that's going to change overnight." In other words, keep a close eye on Anthony if you have him because last minute scratches could become common place. Of course the other possible scenario is Anthony shutting it down entirely for a week or two. Bottom line, if we had him he'd be heavily discounted in our Christmas bargain bin.
