Iverson not going to New York
The New York Knicks have decided not to sign free agent guard Allen Iverson, according to the New York Times.
Our View: Despite initial interest from team president Donnie Walsh, and coach Mike D'Antoni, they decided in the end that Iverson and all of his baggage were not worth it. While the Knicks don't exactly have good team chemistry right now, A.I. would have almost certainly further sullied it.

Iverson clears waivers
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that former Memphis guard Allen Iverson has cleared waivers and is free to sign with any team. Iverson reportedly has received some interest from other teams in the league.
Our View: The Knicks appear to be the most likely destination, but the Heat and the Bobcats have also showed a bit of interest. It looks like he will find another home soon, and hopefully it will be more smooth than his stint with the Grizzlies.

Knicks eyeing The Answer
The Knicks are expected to make Allen Iverson an offer if he goes unclaimed before Thursday's 5:00 p.m. deadline for him to clear waivers, according to the New York Post.
Our View: The Knicks were uninterested in Iverson over the summer, but after getting off to a 2-9 start this season, they have reconsidered their answer to "The Answer." The Heat and Bobcats are also believed to be interested.

Iverson to Knicks? A source close to the Knicks told the New York Times it’s “a given” the Knicks will pursue Allen Iverson after he clears waivers tomorrow evening. Assuming there’s no bidding war, they could get him for the veterans’ minimum, $1.3 million, as they still have their $5.8 million midlevel exception. Little risk.Â

Knicks interested in Iverson
News: The New York Knicks passed on a chance to sign Allen Iverson last summer. A few months and only one victory later, they have to decide if he's worth reconsidering. Iverson is back on the market after the Grizzlies officially waived him Tuesday. And while the Knicks weren't interested in the offseason, they won't rule him out yet. "We had our little group from last year we wanted to keep together and that was the decision in the summertime, not to disrupt what we had," coach Mike D'Antoni said Tuesday. "Now, basketball's fluid and things change every second." D'Antoni and team president Donnie Walsh both praised Iverson's abilities, but said the organization still had to discuss whether it's worth bringing him to a 1-9 team that is off to the worst 10-game start in franchise history. [...]

News: The New York Knicks passed on a chance to sign Allen Iverson last summer. A few months and only one victory later, they have to decide if he's worth reconsidering. Iverson will soon be on the market again after the Memphis Grizzlies announced they were parting ways with the former scoring champion. Knicks might give Iverson a look
The New York Post is reporting that the Knicks might be willing to give guard Allen Iverson a look when he clears waivers. Iverson was released by the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.
Our View: This looks like a long shot, as the Knicks showed very little interest in Iverson over the summer. If they do give him a chance, he will be in very much the same situation that he was in Memphis: coming off the bench for a team that isn't very good. The only difference is that the Knicks play in the bright lights of New York, and the Grizzlies play in obscurity in Memphis.

Grizzlies expected to sign Tinsley
The New York Daily News is reporting that the Memphis Grizzlies are expected to sign former Pacers' guard Jamaal Tinsley. Tinsley missed the entire 2008-2009 season after being sent away by Indiana due to personal conduct.
Our View: It looks like the Grizzlies have a thing for troubled guards, and considering how well the Allen Iverson experiment is going, it makes perfect sense to bring in Tinsley. All joking aside, he will likely be on a short leash with this team, and as a backup to Mike Conley he isn't likely to have much, if any, fantasy value this season.

Grizz owner unsure about AI
SI.com is reporting that Grizzies' owner Michael Heisley has no idea what the future holds for disgruntled guard Allen Iverson. Heisley said he hopes Iverson returns to the team soon, but that the guard is dealing with some personal issues.
Our View: There has been some speculation that Iverson will retire, but nobody seems to know what he is thinking right now. If the owner of the team doesn't know anything, there's a good chance that we won't know anything until Iverson makes his final decision.
Iverson retiring?
The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports that disgruntled guard Allen Iverson is considering retirement.
Our View: If true, it would be one of the more inglorious ends imaginable to a Hall-of-Fame career. In addition to his gripes with new his coach and new franchise, Iverson is also reportedly dealing with a serious family issue. If NBA fans are lucky, the 34-year-old A.I. will learn to accept his new bench role with some dignity and not call it quits.
Potential Iverson suitor
Newsday speculates that disgruntled Grizzlies guard Allen Iverson could be a fit on the Knicks.
Our View: Iverson would make 100 times more sense in New York than Memphis, but the Knicks had the chance to sign him last summer and passed. He would be a mega-upgrade over Chris Duhon at point guard, as well, but for now, consider this unlikely.

The stress associated with a family issue plus Iverson's frustration over playing a reserve role might spell the end of his 14-year NBA career, according to the source. [...]

Is A.I. done?
In the wake of his leave of absence from the Grizzlies, Yahoo! Sports speculates that it's possible Allen Iverson has played his last NBA game.
Our View: It's not far-fetched. He has proven to be a cancerous locker room presence on both of his past two teams, and shown a steadfast unwillingness to come off the bench. With the Grizzlies being the only team that showed any real interest in him last summer, it's conceivable no one will sign him if and when Memphis finally jettisons him.

AI takes personal leave of absence
According to the Twitter page of basketball writer Marc Spears, Grizzlies' guard Allen Iverson has taken a leave of absence from the team. The leave is not believed to be basketball related, and his return in uncertain.
Our View: Iverson has not been waived by the team, so it looks like he has just decided he doesn't want to play in Memphis anymore. This can't be viewed as a surprise, as AI has complained constantly since the season started, but we will have to see what happens with this situation going forward. Needless to say, this isn't good for AI in the fantasy world.

Iverson says he just wants to help
News: Even Allen Iverson is worried whether his tumultuous debut week with the Grizzlies has poisoned his relationship with another coach. Iverson came off the bench for Memphis for the third straight game Friday night, scoring eight points in 22 minutes during the Grizzlies' 114-98 loss to the Lakers. Iverson livid
Allen Iverson is very displeased with the lack of playing time he received in his Grizzlies debut on Monday, according to AOL Fanhouse.
Our View: "I had no problems (with the hamstring that had kept him out at the beginning of the season)," he said. "I had a problem with my butt from sitting on that bench so long. That's the only thing I got a problem with." Why, why, why did the Grizzlies choose to go down this path? Iverson has proven clinically incapable of understanding the arts of aging gracefully and sharing the ball, so it still defies logic that a team with O.J. Mayo and Rudy Gay on its roster would sign a player that is both so selfish and clueless. A.I. may eventually force his way into Memphis' starting lineup, but it will be for the benefit of no one but himself.

Rip out again
Richard Hamilton will miss his third consecutive game on Tuesday as he fights an ankle injury, according to the Detroit News.
Our View: The injury comes at an inopportune time for Hamilton, who was surely hoping to nail down a spot in the starting five after last year's debacle with Allen Iverson. With Ben Gordon now starting, and scoring, in his absence, we could eventually have another guard controversy on our hands in Detroit.
A.I. playing Monday
Allen Iverson (hamstring) has tweeted that he will make his Grizzlies debut on Monday night against the Kings.
Our View: Here we go. Tonight will be fantasy owners' first look at how A.I. affects the Grizzlies' chemistry and the value of both O.J. Mayo and Rudy Gay. Considering his checkered past, the first bet would be negatively on both fronts.

Iverson to debut on Monday
Allen Iverson is expected to make his Grizzlies debut on Monday in Sacramento, according to the AP. He has missed the first three games of the season with a strained hamstring.
Our View: Iverson may get off to a slow start as he has missed nearly all of the preseason. He will be in a three-man rotation with O.J. Mayo and Mike Conley. He still has a lot of fantasy potential, but it could be a while before he settles into a rhythm with his new team.
