Tom Singer, of MLB.com, reports Kansas City Royals SP Zack Greinke was named the American League Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Aug. 30. He went 2-0 with a 1.05 ERA in two starts last week.

The Kansas City Star's Bob Dutton reports Kansas City Royals SP Zack Greinke tossed a complete-game, one-hit shutout Sunday, Aug. 30, and he struck out 15 batters in a 3-0 shutout of the Seattle Mariners. Greinke now has 202 strikeouts.
