News: Zack Greinke doesn't like attention. Never has. And not just a mild aversion to it, either. Enough to chase him from baseball, make his bosses wonder if he'd ever come back. So as the spotlight grew with all those zeros he kept putting up on the scoreboard, how did the Royals right-hander handle it? He went deeper within himself, shut off the outside world even more. "I'm not paying any attention to any of that nonsense," he said. "I don't hear much about it. I haven't even paid any attention to it." Greinke joins Walter Johnson, Fernando Valenzuela, Randy Johnson and Cliff Lee as the only pitchers to start 5-0 with an ERA under 1.00. Greinke has been simply overwhelming this season, mixing speeds, hitting his spots on both sides of the plate, adding a change-up to go with his mid-90s fastball, curve and devastating slider. [...]

News: Royals SP Zack Greinke gave up an earned run for the first time in 43 innings, but Billy Butler backed him up with two homers and the Kansas City Royals used a 15-hit barrage to rout the Toronto Blue Jays 11-3 Wednesday night. Vernon Wells' RBI single with two outs in the first produced the first earned run off Greinke (5-0) since last September, a span of six starts. After throwing complete-game shutouts his two previous starts, Grienke went seven innings, allowing five hits and two runs with two walks and eight strikeouts. He leads the AL with 44 strikeouts. His ERA climbed from 0.00 to 0.50. [...]

Just another night on the job for Greinke, who gave up his first two earned runs of the season. There’s no reason to nitpick though, as the 25-year-old righty submitted another excellent performance, running his overall K/BB ratio to a ridiculous 44/8. Expect more of the same when he toes the rubber next, scheduled for May 4 vs. the White Sox.

He went seven innings and gave up five hits and two runs while striking out eight. Greinke is 5-0 and leads the American League with 44 strikeouts. His ERA rose from 0.00 to 0.50.
