The Associated Press reports Detroit Tigers SP Zach Miner allowed
The Associated Press reports Detroit Tigers SP Zach Miner allowed a run on six hits in six innings Friday, Aug. 29, to improve to 8-4 on the season. "He was effective tonight," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said of Miner. "When he's a starter, he's a four-pitch pitcher. ... His curveball and slider are getting better."

Miner racked up his second consecutive quality start by continuing
Miner racked up his second consecutive quality start by continuing to display very good command. He's walked only two batters in 13 innings over the two-game streak, saving him pitches and allowing him to work more efficiently through his outings. Both outings have been against the Royals, though, so he faces a much tougher test on Sept. 4 at home against the Angels.
