Braves | Hanson improves to 4-0 Sunday
The Associated Press reports Atlanta Braves SP Tommy Hanson limited the Boston Red Sox to two hits and two walks over six innings Sunday, June 28, to improve to 4-0 on the year. Hanson struck out two as he became the first National League rookie to beat the New York Yankees and Red Sox in consecutive starts. Hanson also extended his scoreless streak to 20 innings.
Rookie Tommy Hanson threw six scoreless innings despite a bout
News: Rookie Tommy Hanson threw six scoreless innings despite a bout with the flu, and homers by Chipper Jones and Garret Anderson carried the Atlanta Braves past Boston 2-1 on Sunday, preventing a Red Sox sweep. Pitching dominated the weekend series, with the teams combining for only nine runs in three games. Hanson (4-0) kept it going, limiting Boston to two hits on another sweltering day at Turner Field and extending his scoreless streak to 20 innings. This might have been the most impressive showing yet by the 22-year-old right-hander, one of baseball's most promising pitchers. He was sent home a day earlier with the flu, and the Braves weren't even sure if he's be able to start. But Hanson felt good enough to go on a day when it was 91 degrees at the first pitch and climbing higher through the afternoon. He threw 97 pitches, keeping the Red Sox off balance with a fastball in the mid-90s mixed with nasty breaking balls. [...]

Tommy Hanson improved to 4-0 in the major leagues by shutting out the Red Sox for six innings while battling the flu on Sunday. Not bad. Hanson struck out only two batters, but he also walked just two hitters and allowed just a pair of singles. [...]
Hanson wins again
Despite battling the flu, Tommy Hanson won his fourth game of the season on Sunday. He held the Red Sox to just two hits and two walks over six shutout innings in the Braves' 2-1 win.
Our View: Hanson is now 4-0 with a 2.48 ERA and it's looking like the Braves should have given him the nod out of spring training. Aside from his first start of the season he has not allowed more than two runs. In fact he hasn't allowed a single run since June 12th. If for some unknown reason he's still available, grab him.
Tommy Hanson tossed six innings of two-hit, two-walk ball with
Tommy Hanson tossed six innings of two-hit, two-walk ball with two strikeouts over six frames in a win over the Red Sox on Sunday.
Analysis: After back-to-back scoreless outings against two of the league's most prolific offenses -- the Yankees and Red Sox -- the strong-armed right-hander is the proud owner of four victories, a sublime 2.48 ERA, and he has not allowed an earned run since June 12. Hanson looked awfully good on Sunday, scattering two walks -- his fewest allowed since his debut start on June 7 -- and a pair of singles while throwing 63 of his 97 pitches for strikes. Although Hanson will have to improve on his woeful 18/17 K/BB ratio going forward, it's hard to argue with his results so far. He'll go for his fifth win of the year on July 4 against the Nationals.

Tommy Hanson is expected to pitch Sunday against the Red Sox even though he's dealing with flu symptoms. Kris Medlen would get the ball if Hanson has difficulty warming up or gets knocked out early. [...]
