News: Top Braves prospect Tommy Hanson was among eight players sent to the minors Thursday, leaving the team with 36 in camp. Hanson was 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA in four Grapefruit League games. Jo-Jo Reyes, who was 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA this spring, catcher Clint Sammons and shortstop Diory Hernandez were optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett, while Hanson, catcher Alvin Colina, shortstop Brandon Hicks, outfielder Jason Heyward and first baseman Freddie Freeman were reassigned to the minor-league camp. The biggest name in this batch is Hanson, who is ranked as the game's fourth-best overall prospect by Baseball America. The talented righty was very solid this spring, posting a 2.45 ERA with 14 strikeouts over 14 2/3 innings of work. Heyward, ranked fifth overall on the same list, batted .308 with two homers and a double in 39 Grapefruit League at-bats. Despite the demotion, it's very possible that both youngsters could join the big club's roster at some point over the next few months.
