Weeks is just 1-for-16 in his career off the lefty.Weeks has had a poor year and has not been playing well lately. He has collected a hit in just three of his last 19 at-bats. It has some pain to it."Weeks has been hitting well as of late with hits in five of his last six games, but the injury could affect his swing and production, even though he feels he can play through it. Brewers second baseman and leadoff hitter Rickie Weeks left Sunday's game at Dodger Stadium with a sprained left thumb, the same digit that required surgery nearly three years ago, according to MLB.com.Weeks suffered the injury during a fifth-inning strikeout in an eventual 7-5 loss to the Dodgers when he fouled off a pitch from Los Angeles lefty Clayton Kershaw. Weeks was replaced by Ray Durham in the bottom of the sixth, and Durham becomes the chief option should Weeks be sidelined. The veteran switch-hitter delivered a two-run single in Milwaukee's four-run ninth inning. The soreness is in a different area than the ligament he damaged late in the 2005 season, Weeks said. He required surgery for that ailment.

That's the same digit that required surgery after the 2005 season to repair ligament damage. It was immediately unclear how Weeks was injured on Sunday; he struck out in the top of the fifth inning but was not replaced by Ray Durham until the bottom of the sixth. He has a history of hand and wrist injuries. Less than a year after his thumb surgery, Weeks needed another procedure to repair a sheath around a tendon in his right wrist. Weeks played through pain in that wrist throughout much of 2007.

Weeks drove in a pair of runs with his second single off Homer Bailey (0-6), who failed to last six innings for the third start in a row. Weeks had been in a 5-for-29 slump that dropped his average to .223, lowest in the starting lineup aside from pitcher Jeff Suppan. He singled in each of his first three at-bats, keeping constant pressure on Bailey. Weeks' four singles overall marked the second time in his career he had a four-hit game.
